The short answer is have a mechanic diagnose the problem before you waste any more money.
Code 101 is a problem with the performance of the MAF sensor. That does not mean the sensor is faulty. You could have a leak in the hose between the sensor and the intake, or other problems. Code 171 is bank one O2 sensor saying the fuel mixture is too lean, and code 174 is the same thing for bank two. Again, the sensors may be telling the truth. If the fuel mixture really is too lean, you could have a fuel pressure or volume problem.
A mechanic would use a scanner to monitor the data stream from the sensors, and a 4 gas analyzer to check the exhaust. He would also check fuel pressure with a gauge.

I replaced head gaskets on 2004 dodge dakota. when started it ran rough and lacked acceleration. Code P0300 and o2 sensors showed. replaced all 4 O2 sensors, but still rough idle and code P0300


That's Random or multiple missfire code. Have you checked for proper fuel pressure? Improper fuel pressure will trigger this code if it's too low, thus causing a lean mixture in multiple cylinders.

I doubt it.
Codes 171 and 174 are for lean fuel mixtures, 300 is for random missfires which could be fuel or ignition related, and 1401 is for a problem with the EGR valve system. Now the EGR could cause the other codes if the valve is open or leaking when it should be closed.
The EGR valve and sensor would need to be tested first.

Code 51 on a Plymouth sun dance. How do I fix it?


Code 51 = Oxygen sensor stuck in lean mixture mode. ( this will often cause engine to run rich due to oxygen sensor telling engine controller that it is running lean, thus send more fuel) This may be caused by M.A.P. sensor as well, so check vacuum lines and clean connections on MAP sensor first. It should be one of 2 things, Fault from MAP sensor, or faulty oxygen sensor.

Engine codes are 12, 51,21,53,55 can someone tell me what these codes are. engine is running extremely rich.


12 is battery has been disconnected recently, or went dead.
51 is Oxygen sensor stuck on lean mixture reading
21- no change in oxygen sensor reading
53- internal problem with logic module
55- is end of message/codes.

51 & 21, basically telling you same thing, but I wouldn't jump at changing oxygen sensor first, as a bad M.A.P. sensor can cause a rich mixture, thus oxygen sensor switches to lean to try and compensate. Personally, I'd go with map sensor first, check connections and vacuum lines if all good, replace it, then I'd go to oxygen sensor .

you may try your rotor button and distributor cap. and spark plug wires. try your map sensor also they tend to cause a lot of misfiring if they go bad.hope this helps.

No all a map sensor measures the pressure in the mainfold. But if you have a code for a map sensor i would suggest replacing it. Check your spark plugs cap and rotor.

Unfortunately, both of these items are equally important and repairs can't normally be avoided by taking care of your car.

Your MAP (Mass Air Pressure) Sensor measures intake manifold vacuum pressure to help control the air and fuel mixture and timing. It contains a pressure-sensitive element that connects to an electronic circuit, generating a signal that changes with pressure changes in the manifold.

Your EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve recirculates exhaust gases through the intake manifold to be burned again, cooling peak combustion temperature. Dilutes the air and fuel mixture to keep the nitrogen oxide emissions within breathable limits. And yes, it could very well be that the EGR solenoid that is causing the issue.

Both units effect your vehicle's fuel/air mixture. This is important because your vehicle running lean/rich can cause "snowball" problems. For example, a faulty EGR can cause the vehicle to run rich/lean. If not repaired, in time, the exhaust caused by the wrong rich/lean fuel mixture can damage the O2 sensors and/or catalytic converter.

If I had to pick, I'd start with your MAP Sensor. One guess I would have is that your MAP Sensor failed and made your vehicle start burning the wrong fuel/air mixture. Assuming I'm right, this could have damaged the EGR Valve. So, I see no reason to replace the EGR Valve alone, just so it too can be damaged by the poor fuel/air mixture caused by the still-faulty MAP Sensor. If your lucky, you may see the faulty EGR code disappear once your MAP Sensor is replaced.
