Question about 2001 Buick LeSabre
Take a hammer and tap the starter.. may need new starter... brushes in old one get worn out and dont make contact when they need to as it spins... throw a new starter w/cylanoid on it if it comes assembled together.. if not.. get a cylanoid too.. you tube how to replace starter (list make model) and you can find step by step how to videos to put it on yourself. I have replaced a lot of parts on different cars this way.. learn and do it yourself and SAVE the big bucks! If your battery was low and lights low and all that I would say alternator or generator (whatever your car has).. but with no fire but plenty of battery .. your starter is where you would start.. then your rotor and distributor.. but when you turn your key and try to start.. do you hear the rrrr rrrrr rrrrrr before it actually runs? If not.. that is why.. that rrr rrrr rrrr IS the STARTER. If you do not hear it .. it is broken.. try a jump or new battery first.. if still no sound.. then starter.. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE strong enough charge in battery.. hook up another running car to it and let it charge.. then try to start.. if battery is charged for sure enough then it should try to turn your starter.. they go out.. a little under a 100,000 miles.. my car has over 230,000 and its still purring like a kitten.. lol :) good luck!

Remove the starter relay, check for power at terminal, continuity to starter solenoid, and one more thing-jump relay terminals until you get the clicking noise of the starter solenoid trying to engage. If you hear the click at the starter but still won't turn over, tap the starter solenoid two or three times lightly. Check for power at starter lug. Loose terminals at the battery or corrosion is also of importance.

Troubleshoot the starter. If your battery is good, then you WILL have power...the lights will work, horn, etc, but....if the starter is toast...you need a starter.

the battery is bad. the plates are warped or sulfated.
our shop see that all the time.just change the battery and make sure the terminals are clean and tight and the starter connection is good.
