Could be one of two things.

1. Your starter motor is no good.
2. If you turn on your lights and try to start the car and they dim to almost black, then you need to check the battery connections.

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function

Hi! The anti theft is triggered thats for sure thats why it will crank but won't run. You may need to install a remote start bypass. I provided a link to guide you on how it works. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Please click here http://www.carmedia1.com/index1.html

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

SOURCE: Hello, My Hyundai will not

check on the fuse box, am sure that a starter fuse is blown. the alternator might be the causer. as you said you changed it not so long. When you find out the fuse are ok, check also the solnoid wire on the starter motor beside the main wire, when that is good then might be the carbon brushes are won need to be replaced

Testimonial: "Thanks For the help, I will try these things, this was helpful, I check a few wires, and some fuses but not the ones you are refering to!! Thnx Again!"

2001 chevy tahoe want start i just replaced the starter and nothing happened

Probably should check to see if there is power going down threw the small wire on the starter solenoid when the key is turned to the start position, that be a good place to start. Double check the battery cables, make sure they are in good shape, clean and tight. If there is no power to the small wire on the starter solenoid, it may be the starter relay, or even an ignition switch.

Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good on both ends not just at the battery? Click on the link, see the relay, unplug it, Use proper jumper between cavity terminals, u6 and v8 in the diagram, u6 in diagram is fuse protected and hot all the time, use a test light to check for voltage. That side of relay is the control side, has that arrowhead in diagram. The starter motor may crank the engine? This is just a test, if you try it, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. If it cranks with the jumper, but, not otherwise, the problem is on the control side of relay.
The clicking noise, can you tell if it is coming from fuse box or starter motor?

Car wont start just get a single click

I don't know what testing you have done, as far as wiring circuits? You can see the starter fuse in the diagram, not only check the fuse, check for voltage on the fuse circuit, use a test lite to check for voltage. At the starter motor itself, two voltage circuits, one hot all the time, the other goes hot when starter relay is energized. Check those voltage circuits. The starter motor grounds through engine block.
You can unplug starter relay, use proper jumper wire, between terminals 30 and 87, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

My Chrysler 300 won't start. Problem is not battery or fuses. Not getting 12 volts to 5 amp fuse (fuse is good) for control voltage to starter relay. Applied 12 volts to fuse socket with ignition s

PLease, check if the check engine light lit up when you turn the switch, if it doesn't lit up, your EMC (computer) is not getting any electricity. And that could be the reason that you the fuses are OK but it won't start.

Ignition relay clicks but starter won't engage

Where is this relay? A wiring diagram doesn't show any relay at all in the starting circuit. Just this: a yellow start wire out of ignition switch goes to the neutral safety switch (if manual, a clutch start switch on the clutch pedal: if automatic a transmission range switch); From the safety switch a purple wire to the starter solenoid on the starter motor. Only other place to check is a "crank" fuse in the instrument panel fuse block- a 10 amp fuse in position 8 of the block.
Is the click you hear possibly from the starter solenoid? If it is, that means key switch part of circuit to the solenoid is good. Either starter motor is bad, or battery connections to starter and to battery ground may be bad, check them first.

#1 Try starting the car in Neutral, if no start replace the Park and Neutral safty switch. #2 Check for a faulty starter solenoid. #3 Check for a faulty stsrter motor. #4 Check for a faulty ignition switch. #5 Check for faulty starter Relays.#6 Check the Transmission Range sensor it could be out of adjustment or defective. #7 On 1998 and later models, the power relay is in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. Refer to your owners manual for more information on relay location. Good Luck From Ernie @ RedDeer, Alberta, Canada.

The battery is full , its clicking like a dead batt or like the contacts in the starer are gone so changed the starter with a bench tested starter & still the same problem ....? so checked all fuses...

If battery is new or like new and fully charged, and it still clicks, then the contacts to the battery may be corroded to the point that a 'limited' amount of current flows through the contacts to the starter.

When the starter is removed and bench tested, it will test out ok, so there must be something else wrong with the starting/charging system other than the starter or the battery itself. Something in between the two items is causing your problem.

Good luck on this repair.
