You can not reset the battery light. If the light is on than there is a problem with the charging system (alternator, regulator, wiring, etc). Fix the problem and the light will go out.

Disconnect your battery. Touch the two battery cables together. (make sure they are not in contact while hooked to the battery). Then leave the battery disconnected for 10mins. Connect battery again. This should reset the computer. Sometimes lights my be on until you drive the vehicle a short distance, then it resets.

The car overheats changed the thermostat still overheats put new waterpump &radiator still overheats & steams how do u reset computer?

Disconnect the positive battery terminal, then the negative. Let it set for a few minutes, most recommend 10 minutes. Once the time is up, reconnect the negative, then the positive battery terminals. This should clear the computer's memory, which would solve that issue...if it's the computer that needs to be reset...

My fuel light just came on and battery charge light just came on. I put fuel in it, but it still remain lumininated. what do u think is the problem. is the battery dieing?

it is the alternator. 100% Once the alternator goes out it is not uncommon for the lights on the dash to act strange. Go to your local parts store and have them do an alternator output test. Don't go driving too far because when that battery goes dead the car will die also because the alternator is not keeping a steady charge.

REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ON A DODGE 1999 STRATUS 2.4. TRYING TO GET IT EMMISSION TESTED AND KEEP TELLING ME THAT THE COMPUTER HAS NOT RESET. tHE BATTERY LIGHT IS ON ALSO. wHAT CAN ii DO TO GET...

If the battery light is still on, the computer is not reading voltage over battery voltage- your new alternator maybe bad. Until you can correct this, the computer will not reset. It will always pull up a code for low voltage.

You can reset them by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes...

85 mr2 check engine light on

I would start by performing tune up. Change the sparkplugs and wires, and change the air filter.

Check the timing of the engine. Make sure the timing is correct (please check the green book for the correct timing...)

In my experience, it sounds like you have a bad oxygen sensor. Replace this sensor, then keep the battery disconnected for at least 30 minutes, then reconnect the battery and drive the car through it's paces (stop and go, acceleration, cruising, etc...).

Disconnectingthe battery will cause the ECU to reset, then driving around will cause the ECU to once again reprogram itself as necessary.

When the oxygen sensor goes bad in these models, it tends to make the car run with too much fuel, although sometimes too lean, and it tends to overheat the engine.

Good luck!

I would check that the auxilliary drive belt that runs the alternator and probably the water pump hasn't just broken, causing the engine to overheat and the battery to run flat. Just a suggestion, hope it helps.
