Question about 2004 Dodge Neon
I have a 2004 neon .I have replaced the cam shaft censor, crank shaft censors, the alternator, fuel pump, checked gas line compression,Etc.... the car will run fine for a little bit then the engine light comes home and the car sputters but then it will get up to speed as long as you slowing allow the rpms to rise , but then and 60 mph it starts jerking like crazy and wont let you go over 60 mph....if I disconnect the battery cable to reset the computer it will run fine again for a little bit and do the same dam thing...I'm going nuts with everything I have replaced then think its fixed ..yet to have the same problem be there..it seems as if it is something simple or am I wrong?
It is probably something simple, but simple doesn't make it easy to find.
Are you now only getting the code 0344 for an intermittent CMP? If still both codes, I would recommend a Chrysler shop to run extensive tests to see how they may or may not be related. It may not be so simple OR easy to find.
If only the CMP code, can your scanner run live stream data on the sensor? Chrysler uses a DRB3 scanner in their shop to run such tests. Intermittent performance of the sensor may be a bad wire in the circuit, bad connections, possibly a problem with the pulse ring the sensor gets a signal from...
Here are a couple of answers from experts that may give you some pointers. On this first one, pay particular attention to the expert's last response or two, when he talks about the CMP: http://www.2carpros.com/questions/2003-dodge-intrepid-timing-check.
On this next one is given the factory step-by-step diagnostic procedure for the 0344 code. May give you insight on how a Chrysler shop would go about diagnosing the 0344:
Don't go nuts just yet, you are just getting started ! lol. Good luck, fella.
