You may need a transmission flush, if one of the valves sticks in the transmission it may not make a quick decision to shift when in between gears. Worst case ...this may be a precursor to worse problems, like a transmission rebuild.

There is a technical sevice bulletin for this exact issue. Go to the dealer and request they reprogram the pcm. You should not pay more than a half hour labor, they'll probably try to get a diagnosis fee out of you. Tell them no, just reprogram the pcm to latest calibration. If this doesn't fix it, then repost or pay to chat, but that should fix ya.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 Ford focus and the gas pedal sticks.

What you want to do is isolate the problem. You want to disconnect the throttle cable with the engine off. Then move the part that the throttle cable was attached to by hand.
The part that remains on the engine should not bind up. If it binds you want to remove the airduct to the metal piece it attaches to.
Then move the engine part again and see if a flap is moving or binding. There is an electrical part called a TPS which attached to the shaft of the flap. It has 2 screws and 1 electric plug. If this part seems to be sticking it is bad. It should move smoothly and needs to be replaced.
If the engine part moves smoothly without the throttle cable attached, then all the binding is in the cable. You can try spraying WD40 into the old cable, but a new cable would be best.

05 ford taurus first start it, engine runs too fast and going down the road the gas pedal will stick

Maybe throttle body is getting gummy from varnish. I had that happen on several GM vehicles. Try some carberator cleaner on a rag.

Have a 05 ford Taurus when you first start it the engine runs too fast and going down the road the gas pedal sticks

I would think the throttle body is getting gummy. You need some carb cleaner to spray it and sometimes you ever have to physically clean it.

Gas pedal sticking, motor racing

Hi, yes you can fix yourself. Follow the accelerator (gas pedal) cable to the carburetor, at the carb. there should be a spring (this could have come off) that makes the cable retract, have any helper push the gas pedal. You watch the movement in the engine area with the ENGINE SWITCHED OFF. Follow the movement of the cable and check for return action. Lubricate with spray lube on all moving parts. All the best.

Gas pedal sticking open while i'm driving down the road

Depending on the make model and year, it could be a binding throttle cable, or sludge on the throttle plate.

1998 Ford Taurus Lights will not go off at all unless battery is disconnected and the car wont start Key in ignition does nothing and lights just stay on Anyine know whats going on Is there ANY WAY to...

In this case, you most problemly have a brake light switch under the dash attached to the brake pedal mechanism. The rubber stop gromite maybe worn out. switch is open all the time. Also the clutch pedal maybe also have a damaged switch. You can make rubber pad with rubber floor matting or stick on picture frame wall hanging stick pads. Otherwise when you started & on the road again go to car parts centre & buy the correct parts for long term replacement. okay,

2000 Ford Taurus not getting gas

If your in gear (D) for example and you hit the gas, engine revs, but car doesn't speed up, it's a problem with your transmission, and the first thing you can do is have the fluid level checked, and add fluid if needed. If that's not the cure, take it to a transmission shop & have it diagnosed.
