SOURCE: Transmition grinding when i go fast then either go into neutral or take foot off gas

Sounds like the trans imput shaft bearing. They tend to wear and cause shifting problems. It also could be synchronizers. Marlin Crawler makes aftermarket trans bearings for these transmisions.
I hope this helps. Also check tranny fluid and clutch. a worn or bad clutch will also cause this.

One of three things. I would start with removing the belt and checking the idler and tensioner pulleys to see if they are running smoth. The third item would be the ac compresor brg.

SOURCE: reverse made grinding noise then quit moving

It sounds as though the planetary gear set may have failed. If you check the transmission fluid and notice a lot of metal in it; you can pretty much be assured that your transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced given the scenario you have just posted.

SOURCE: 96 nissan pathfinder 4wd AT.

check exhaust pipes and exhaust shield at exhaust maniolf and under the truck. they rot and come loose all the time on nissans. if its an exhaust shield, its usually safe to just rip it off. just watch for wires and sensors that might hit the exhaust and melt.

sounds like the final drive gear and bearings are bad. the fact the noise changes when you decel or relieve the torque is a good indication.

Cherokee intermitant grinding noise in neutral

Is it when the engine first starts? It sounds like to me that the starter is getting stuck in the fly wheel. what happens is when you go to start it, the solenoid push's the gear out and spins the gear almost one full action, the grinding noise could be the starter staying engaged after the motor has starter but quickly comes out of it after driving out of it. just a thought.

2003 lexus gs 300 makes loud grinding noises while air conditioning is running. The noise lessens when pushing on the gas, but gets louder when idling or in Park and Neutral gears.
