If the starter motor was checked ok on the bench, then you need to see if you are getting power to the solenoid on the starter when you give contact to start. If you are not getting power, then you need to trace back, check fuses, check wire to ignition switch and also check the switch. Hope that helps

First check your oil, and change it if necessary. Low oil will cause the lifters to tap. I wouild recommend adding some high milage oil treatment, like Slick 50. If your oil is good and full, the lifters may be damaged. You can take a quart of transmission fluid or diesel fuel to the gasoline. It will cause it to smoke a little but it may free up sticky lifters. If that doesn't work, you probably have damage to your lifters.
