Question about 1987 Toyota Pickup
I have a 1987 Toyota Pickup that i can move the shifter in however the transmission itself is stuck into 3rd. I have taken the top cover off and the shifter itself is not broken. Why is it in 3rd and how do i get it out?

push the clutch pedal all the way and see if the slave cylinder pushrod is going out at least an inch, if not replace the slave cylinder, if it does goes out, sad to say but you have problem somewhere else inside your clutch assembly

pull the shifter out and check for bent and worn parts, most likely the shaift rails are worn out and it is stuck between gears.

It sounds like your clutch isn't releasing properly. Do you need to adjust the pedal free play or bleed the hydraulics? If that doesn't fix it you may need take another look at the clutch you put in.
