Question about 1997 Honda Civic

1 Answer

My key-in-ignition alarm or sensor is faulty. Alarm goes off after key is removed. Wouldn't be a big deal, but it overrides the headlight alarm, so if I have had my lights on during the day, due to rain, I tend to forget to turn them off. Is it easier and cheaper to fix it or just disable it? How do I go about either one?

Sub model> CX, LX , what?
that is called the Key minder (and switch)
whats cheaper, who'd we know that.
labor or parts. which is cheaper....??????
well DIY, only you know what you want, has the schematic.

no security system? option?
the key minder switch has 2 wires.
black is ground
and blue-white out and the later to blue-red.
the switch grounds for key in, so cut the wire to it.
bam, no key ever. and no BUZZZZZZZ
but also kills the secuity system,

SOURCE: Key Fob does not work and alarm goes off when raining

the central locking control unit is in the drivers door. there's a polythene sheet in the door panel. If that's ripped or petrified then rain may be screwing with the electrics. it may be worth taking off the door panel and wrapping it the controll unit in a shopping bag or summat.....

How can i find the anti theft reset button on 2006 taurus

this is for a 2003, might work.

Press the unlock button on your vehicle's key fob to deactivate the alarm. If you've misplaced your remote for the car, use the PATS programmed key to unlock the driver's side door. Then, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. The vehicle's battery should be on, but the engine shouldn't be running.

Locate the override button on the alarm box, beneath the driver's side of the dashboard. Press the button and hold it in until the alarm beeps one time. The LED light for the alarm should stop blinking, indicating the anti-theft system is disabled.

To reset the vehicle's alarm, put the PATS programmed key in the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. Press the override button. When the alarm resets, it chirps two times and the LED light begins blinking.

2001 mitsubishi eclispse gs wont start how do you bypass the security system

  • 1 Turn the ignition key counter clockwise in the driver's side door to unlock the caricon1.png. This deactivates the alarm long enough for you to gain access to the vehicle. Then, place the key in the ignition and turn the key until it clicks once. This starts the car's battery, but doesn't ignite the engine. The LED light on the dashboard should stop blinking, indicating the alarm is temporarily disabled.
  • 2 Locateicon1.png the box for the alarm under the dashboard on the driver's side of the car. Then, look for the override button on the box. Typically, the small button is either red or black. With the ignition key in the "on" position, press the override button and hold it in until the alarm chirps once. This disables the alarm until you manually reactivate it.
  • 3 To reactivate the alarm, turn the key to the "on" position and press the override button once. The alarm chirps twice, indicating the alarm is active.

  • Hope this helps!

Alarm is armed, and I dont have a remote.I need to manually dissarm the alarm or my car will not start

Open the door, the alarm will sound , go under your dash, normally installation techs will install a kill switch or alarm override button either in the drivers side kick panel to the left of were your left foot rests or inside the fuse box panel, under the steering column or by the center column somewhere but most likely the drivers kick is the spot. So open the door and find the kill switch or override button and put the key in the ignition turn it to the on position without cranking and press or toggle the switch after you turn the key, this should override the alarm and let you start the vehicle, otherwise you have to remove the alarm main fuse from the brain and rewire your starter kill to factory so that you can start your vehicle normally again until an alarm tech corrects the alarm wiring.

Good luck my friend, hope it is helpful.

My alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason, does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a cure

hood sensor switch. unplug it. done. won't make any difference to the operation of the alarm if its unplugged, it's just not in the alarm system anymore to cause a faulty alarm sound.

think about it though. car alarms are useless. so it goes off...big deal, whaddya going to do, shoot the guy breaking in. he's already armed. call the police? oh, by the time they get there...he's long gone.
