Timing chainalignment on a 2004 ford taurus dohc. cant figure out

I have a chilton book, but its not getting me the right timing. all marks and links are right by the book, but its still off. can help?

Is the Haynes manual any better?  the computer only adjust the secondary timing.  The primary and valve to crank correlation is done via the chain positioning.  Rotate the crank 180 degrees an that should fix the problem.  Good luck

On a newer car, all the timing is done by the cars computer.
the crankshaft and the camshaft position sensors, send the information to the computer to adjust the timing as needed

Its on the back of engine where bell housing of transmission is, just below the water t-stat housing, below coolant temp sensor. Large wiring harness run over it.

The best advice I can you is, stop by the library and
check out a chiltons/moter or mitchells repair manual. Any of these books will give you all the step by steps and diagrams, you will need to do the job.

What motor and year? If it is the Ej 25 DOHC all the marks are on the cam sprockets except the crank is marked in the block almost straight up, Just a small notch. Good luck and hope this helps. Have a good day.

Heater core removal in 92 ford taurus

You'll have to remove the dash in layers. The heater box is the last thing you actually get to. It's not a fun job. It's a very time consuming job. I believe "book" time on that job is around 8 hours. Even guys like me that have done these before take longer that what "book" times is.
