SOURCE: Need diagram for 1998 Jeep

hi, you didn't say what engine you have, I'll assume it's the 4.0 L in line 6 cylinder. Standing on the PASSENGER side of the jeep, the spark plug at the front of the engine is #1, the next is #2, and so on to #6 which is at the back (nearest the windshield).
The distributor is between you and the valve cover on the engine. Pretend the top of the distributor cap is the face of a clock.
The #1 spark plug wire goes in the cap at what would be the 6 o'clock position, (as viewed from your position standing on the passenger side, facing the side of the engine). The firing order direction is clockwise, so the 'hand' of the clock (actually the rotor in the cap) would continue to the next distributor cap plug in, which would be spark plug wire to #5 (8 o'clock position), then #3 (10 o'clock position), #6 (12 o'clock position), #2 (2 o'clock position), #4 (4 o'clock position). So all this means isi your firing order is, 1,5,3,6,2,4 If you have a different motor or any questions, let me know. Good Luck! countrycurt0

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee and i changed all the ignition coils and plugs so the check engine light come on still and it reads a misfits in #2 and #4 what else can i check for

Since you have already changed the plugs I would check the wires, have the camshaft position and knock sensors tested and then take a look at the injector system.I would take it to you local mechanic to test the sensors since there all tested differently. Also you could try changing the distributor cap and rotor they might have a crack.

Fuel pump

Yeah, it's in the fuel tank in the back of the jeep. It's not too difficult to replace but you have to drop the fuel tank and I would recommend siphoning any fuel out before dropping the tank. Carfully unplug the wires above the fuel tank after you loosen it up before dropping it. I'd advise you to have a helper on hand. Hopefully the tank isn't cracked or deformed. You must have a tight seal in order for the pump to **** the fuel out. Good luck.
