Most likely the coolant temperature sensor for the vehicle computer. Secondly, could be the tps sensor "throttle position sensor" not registering correctly or perhaps lots of other things but most likely the coolant temp sensor.

SOURCE: Need a service manual for my 1990 Ford Thunderbird SC

Dont pay a penny for that manual ! Go to :
Click on 'Maintenance' then click on
'Owners Manuals' and fill in the questions
about your trucks make & model.
There will be a list of documents that comes up and it will tell you how to save the document.
You can also just click on the document you need, and it will come up in a new
window as a PDF. You can save it to your PC from there and print it.
I also saved my manual to my 'Favorites' bar for quick reference.
Also, if it doesn't load then you may need to get a free Abode Reader at

Hope this help, I had the same problem with my Exp. Sport Trac, and having the manual solved all my problems!

SOURCE: where is the fuel pump o a 1990 ford thunderbird

The starter SOLENOID is on the starter motor. The starter RELAY is located on the left fender apron just behind the battery. (The positive (+) battery cable connects to it)

1990 thunderbird sc when you turn the key the car just clicks

It just clicks, this indicates problem with battery or problem with starter. If starter is faulty then battery will just give power to starter and click. The engine will not start due to faulty starter. Most likely starter is faulty, but if both battery and starter checked out ok then there are other possibilities too.Click the link below:-- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

1990 ford thunderbird turns over but wont start i was told it was te fusible link. If it is where is this link?

fusible links come off of the starter on GM cars, and I would imagine they are the same on the Ford.

Usually, in my experience, the fusible link is close to the starter and controls things like the cooling fan. It's another circuit protection feature.

Actually, if you have a 1990 Ford Thunderbird that won't start, I would look for fuel and spark to start.

Doesn't always turn over

It sounds like your battery isn't holding a charge. Regarding the starting, you may have to replace your starter solenoid. Although many cars do not start if the brake pedal is not depressed, the thunderbird is not one of them. I have one outside in my driveway right now. There are unfortunately, numerous electrical glitches with 89-94 Thunderbirds. I have replaced many many electrical parts for both of mine (a '90 v-6 and a '94 v-8)

My 1990 Thunderbird is getting no electrical power. The battery is new and fully charged. I have put in a new ignition switch and cylanoid switch. Still nothing. No headlights, no hazzard lights or dummy...

Replace the ignition switch. It's under the steering column covers half way down the column. There is a long electrical plug that has a bolt in the center of it that holds it on. You may need to buy tamper proof sockets to actually remove the switch. They look like torx bits but has a hole in the center of it.
