1999 grand prix gtp second cooling fan will not turn on

How hot is the vehicle running? The second cooling fan is programmed to operate only, like the first cooling fan, at a predetermined engine temperature. It varies by model, if I remember correctly however I think it is 226F for the fan to turn on, and at some point if that does not begin working the second fan will turn on.

When you come to a stop sign the temputure gage will climb one or two marks above mormal once you continue on the gage will go back to mormal

Apparently you are not getting enough air through the radiator when the vehicle is stopped. If the radiator is cooled by a mechanical fan driven by a belt on the engine the problem could be a missing or damaged fan shroud, a worn out fan clutch, or even a slipping belt. If the vehicle has an electric fan it may not be coming on when it needs to, and that could be a burnt out fan motor, a defective fan relay, a blown fan fuse, a defective temperature sensor, or a wiring problem.

When you come to a stop sign and set a while the temputure gage will go one or two lines past mormal. when you are driving down the road ihe temputure gage shows mormal

if its very hot out then this can be normal.make sure the cooling fans are working properly.it could be a thermostat that is not working properly, make sure the coolant level is full.if there is only say 2 lines then the hot line then you could have a head gasket that is just starting to go bad.

My engine temp gauge goes way up when the car is stuck in traffic, when I begin to roll the temperature gauge goes back down. I assume that this is a sensor issue, can this be changed easily?

I would assume that the sensor is probably doing EXACTLY what it is designed to do....measure engine temperature! An engine will get hot when sitting in traffic if the radiator cooling fans are not working. The engine temperature will then go back down when the vehicle starts moving and air begins to flow through the radiator.

My temputure gage goes up when UNLESS my a/c is running on HIGH. And then sometime even then. It is a 1999 land rover. Is it a major problem like last time?? Please help! :)

Check the cooling fans, they may not be running when the temp gets up to the 218 degree mark, they should come on by themselves,if not check the fluid level in the cooling system, and make sure the thermostat is not stuck shut, and bleed the air out of the cooling system, and last but not least, the coolant sensor could be the problem,if the cooling fans are good, and the cooling relay for the fans.

1995 cutlass supreme over heats

It sounds like a bad thermostat, but you could have excessive air in the system also. Thier is an air bleed screw on the thermostat housing that is used for bleeding the system. I would also check your cooling fans, to do this easily turn your ac on max setting and check to see if the fans are spinning. when the ac is on max the fans should be spinning all the time.

Radiator fan not cuting in

if you make the contacts on the plug that connects to the thermo switch, does the fan work (both speeds?)?

if not, then it could be the fan control module or a fuse on there.

2003 buick cooling fan does not work

Hello george.
It sounds like it may be the temp switch that turns on the fans if it don't heat up when your driving down the road and the temp stays at a normal temputure it sounds like the temp. sensor there may two on that car one for the gauge and one for the fans, But first you should check out your fans and make sure that they still work, You can check them either with a Ohms meter or you can if you don't have one of those you can try to unplug the fan and use a ground wire and a positve 12 volt power to see if the fans still work or fan depending on if you have one or two. there should be two on that car but what ever, You will find that if you do those tests you will find your problem, Which I think is the Temp sensor that turns on the fans itself. Let me know if that helps you out or if you need somemore help. I am in MI. so I can't fix it unless your in the U.P. LOL Take Care Hope It Helps You Out...
