Instrument panel on 2003 Honda CRV starts flashing when headlights are on

Have had a similar experience with my 2000 Ford Windstar. The extra load added by turning on the headlights affects the instrumentation power feed. The illumination flickers and the gages go crazy. Your 2003 CRV may have its original battery which is near death. It took me four batteries to stabilize things and I still get the flickers at night sometimes

I have a 2001 subaru legacy. The gages went a bit wierd and the radio was turning on and off hinting at a charging problem. Once home the engine would not start but after a half hour on the charge things...

not a suburu guy at all, but i'd check the battery it could be its shorted. charge it some more &
see if it will take a full charge 13+ volts & will hold up against a load test.
auto zone & other parts houses will check it for free

Check gauge light can come on for a number of different things, from Low fuel to low oil pressure to high engine temperatures. When the light comes on check all the gauge's and see whats causing it, one or more of the gauge's will be showing an issue, Low fuel or low oil pressure, Low battery power. Any of the mentioned things can cause it... Figure out whats causing it then you can remedy the situation...
