Mazda Familia indicators and hazard lights not working

Mazda Familia 1993 indicators and hazard lights have stopped working. Sometimes they will start working by themselves and then will just randomly stop again. Haven't noticed any patterns of when they will work and when they won't. When they don't work the green light on the dash will not show, they will make one clicking sound when turned on but not after that (when they are working correctly they will click with every flash). Have tried moving wires around and thumping bits of the car to see if it is a lose wire but haven't found anything that gets them to start working again. Has been happening for about three weeks ago and at first it was only happening very occasionally but is happening much more often now. Please let me know if you need any more details.

SOURCE: 2000 Buick Regal LS 3.6 - Flashing Dashboard Lights/Wont start

Most likely it is the ignition switch (the key ignition switch) in the steering column ($100 at a dealer).

It may be a loose negative battery ground cable, too.
Check the negative battery cable where it conencts to the engine ground. It may be loose, corroded, damaged, or otherwise not making a good ground contact.

Add a grounding strap ($11 - AutoZone) from the engine to the chassis. That may help, but it's most likely the ignition switch.

SOURCE: First: alarm went off on its own.(mazda 6 2003).

there is often a small back up battery in the immobiliser unit itself, if you can locate this unit and replace the battery with the ignition on / engine running, then it should not need recoding and work fine after that. The other thing that could be wrong is the key battery (if the fob has one) or the transponder chip in the key head. If the key signal is low the immobiliser lamp will light during driving, but this does not explain the alarm going off. That is more likely either a poor vehicle battery, alarm / immobiliser back up battery, or another electrical fault such as water leakage into a tail-light or even the alarm unit itself when it rains. A lot of alarms are voltage sensing and when the vehicle is parked they will alarm if the battery voltage changes for any reason, though not during driving so the battery in the immob is my first choice to look at.

SOURCE: 1994 toyota estima intermittant start problem. makes click

This could be a grounding problem. Check all battery connections. Also check motor to body ground strap for corrosion. Check battery to motor ground and battery to body ground. Even if the ground looks allright it can be corroder underneath, so you have to take the ground bolt off to clean it.
