SOURCE: Toyota RAV 4 1.8 A - engine doesn't start after battery exchange

may sound like a dumb question but you didnt by chance hook up the battery or jumpstart the car with polarity reversed by accident at some point during this process? i would check all the underhood main fuses and interior fuses as well, what is the condition of the battery post clamps? if they are badly corroded be sure to clean them very well and wash them with a baking soda and water solution im thinking one of the cables or smaller wires that hook up at the battery is broken or possibly some freak accident happend and the computers need to be flashed at a dealer. either way i wish you luck please rate -jeff

You need to disconnect the negitive lead to your battery for at least 5 minutes. This allows the system to reset.

The first thing to do is try another key. Perhaps your transponder key has failed.
You can identify a 'transponder key'; it has a wide part wher you turn it.

Toyota avalon 2000 battery flat ...put starter pack on battery start pack fully charged .....did not start car only clicked starter motor gone ?

Those starter packs are really for a boost . If your battery is dead
its better to replace it especially Toyota they seem to be finicky about a good stiff battery
if you have a multi meter put it on the battery terminals and have someone try to crank while observing the voltage
if the voltage drops below 10 volts usually that battery is on the road to letting you down

My 1999 toyota camry changed alternator twice and my battery is still losing charge what else could cause my battery to lose charge

If your battery is the original one, it is probably getting very weak (that's 13 years old). Batteries last approximately 4 to 6 years then loose potential rapidly from that point on. If that is not the case, then you have a short somewhere in the wiring that is draining the battery.

2005 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder intermittently won't start

try starting the car and while running disconnect the negative battery cable,if the car still runs turn on the head lights,if the car dies the alternator is weak. I think its weak and can charge the battery as long as the lights are off,but cant keep up when theyare on. so if drive most of the time in the day time you are ok as long as you dont have to start the car too many times. when you drive with the lights on and the engine slows to an idle like when you park the car dies. make sense?

Gave a jump start and now headlights don't work on a 2005 yukon denali

sound like battery has weak or battery terminals and post need cleaning. have battery charged and checked, if battery good. alternator not charging battery. if battery over 5 years old more likely battery is bad.if battery too weak head lights wont turn on battery dead this time of year if battery old. cold weather will finish it out.

Shorted out alternator by mistake , now the car won't start. 125 amp fuse replaced.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

My 2003 Toyota Camry just killed, it started with a jump but something sounds drastically wrong. Had it towed...what could be wrong?

If it started with jumper leads OK, that's a strong indication it needs a new battery. It would not be unusual for a car to be sold with a weak battery. They last 3-5 years and then lose the ability to hold a charge, so you can drive the car around, but then it can still fail to start.

Since you have to buy one of these from a battery shop, ask them first to test the old battery and explain what is happening.

This is just a guess but has happened to me before. The battery may be on the weak side and guessing you may have had the doors open for some time as well as the radio going for a while as well which could have pulled the battery down.

I have a 1994 toyota camry my car won't start. can the battery be weak enough to prevent the started from turnin over.

Yes the battery can be weak enough to turn the starter. Most vehicle batteries do not last beyond 4 years on average of daily driving.

If your radio, lights, etc. do not work or seem under powered, then replace the battery if it is old. Otherwise check the battery terminals and connectors for corrosion and proper fit.

2004 toyota corolla-battery is 1 1/2 years old. Car wouldn't start this morning or take a jump charge. No radio and interior light is dim. no clicking noise when I turn on the ignition. Any ideas?

bad connection from battery to car. If you hook up jumer cables adn you still have no lights, you have a bad connection. Loosen battery cables and wiggle them or take sandpaper and get a good clean connection.
