Question about 2009 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

Does my 2009 ford explorer have a cabin air filter?

Can't find in owners manual. Air condition has a smell when on lower speed, kind of like a sour water smell. No smell when on high. No leakage found when inspected.

I don't list a cabin filter available for 2007 - 2009 Explorer.
Usually the smell is trapped water in the hvac box due to a plugged drain line. The water is supposed to drain onto the ground under the truck when the ac is on.

SOURCE: My truck a/c has a

Sometimes mold can grow where there is moisture especially in the evaporator housing. What works really well is... 1. get a can of Lysol (what ever fragerance you like) 2. spray half of the can down the fresh air vents on the outside of the car nearest the windshield 3. spray the other half down the vents insid ethe car. 4. allow this to sit over night 5. Before you get hit in the face, turn the car on, open all doors (or at least the windows) quickly turn the A/C on high and step out of the car. Allow this to blow for about 15 - 20 minutes or until you are satisfied you can drive the car without being bothered by the fragerance. The Lysol should kill anything growing in there and restore the smell to nothing but air. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ac smell in 2009 Mercedes c300

Check drain and unclog if required.
Remove air cabin filter (see you tube for instructions). Make sure it is done in a clean place so no dust or dirt gets in while you do this.
Block Air Cabin filter opening with duct tape.
Set fan to 50% (3/4), temperature to minimum
AC must be OFF
Open hood and using a Spray bottle, spray half a bottle of Alcohol 70% into the air intake vents at bottom of windshield
Turn off fan
Let it sit for 30 to 60 min
Set temperature to max and fan to max
Open hood and using a Spray bottle, spray the second half (250ml) of a bottle of Alcohol 70% into the air intake vents at bottom of windshield.
Turn heater and fan OFF
Take off duct tape and replace the air cabin filter (new one is better)
If you don't take off the air cabin filter, a lot of the alcohol or disinfenctant (like Lysol) may be stuck in the filter causing an irritating smell.
Replace Air cabin filter if possible.

Hello, there. I have a 2009 Mazda cx-9, and I was running AC quite a bit in the last year and I noticed it has strong odour from the ac vent, when the AC is on, there is no smell, when I turn off the AC...

You need to clean your A/C main vent from center console using a special A/C cleaning equipment with ultrasonic waves. Here in Europe it's easy to find a workshop with this special A/C cleaning equipment with ultrasonic waves. I suggest you to search a workshop in your area, and ask them for this special A/C cleaning equipment with ultrasonic waves.

Look for the cabin air filther in my 2000 gmc jimmy

I'm 99% sure it doesn't have a cabin air filter. I've serviced many Jimmys and similar GM trucks of the same era and never replaced a cabin air filter or seen a reference of one in manuals. What kind of smell are you experiencing? Is it a musty moldy smell or a horrid animal smell?

I HAVE A BAD SMELL COMING FROM AIR CONDITIONING VENTS, HOW DO I GET INTO THAT AREA AND IS THERE ANY AIR FILTER SYSTEM FOR THE INTERIOR AIR?

Some of these vehicles have a cabin air filter in them, they a usually located behind the glove box in the blower housing. If you lower your glove box down to where you can access the area behind it, you will see a long rectangular panel that has two clips holding it in remove this panel and you will find the filter and possibly something else.
