Thermostat replacement 1991 olds silhouette

follow the big hose from the top of the radiator to where it goes into the engine. At the engine you will see typically 2 bolts to remove. under that is the thermostat. if it has rubber gasket, simply replace the thermostat and gasket. If it is a paper gasket, CLEAN THOROUGHLY, then rplace using some sort of gasket glue, many types available, they all will work.

Someone put some type of glue around the pan and now it is stuck good, is it o.k. to use a hammer and chisel to remove the pan ?

I doubt that it is glue on pan, maybe gasket sealer. yes you can use a rubber hammer on it, but do not damage pan or where it mounts. are you talking oil pan!!

Oil leaking into sparkplug holes on rubber boots

Buy a new valve cover gasket set (and a small tube of silicon high temp sealer). It comes with new rubber seals for each sparkplug hole, and the cover perimeter.Use a little silicon glue on the gaskets to hold them in place. Take your time,do the work with a cold engine in a shaded area. Clean all the oil off the wires and make sure all the old gasket rubber is cleaned off.And check to make sure before you put the cover back on that no old gasket pieces are in the engine.

Rotted lower manifold

This has probably resulted in the mustache gasket getting sucked through into the lifter valley???? It has to come apart, of course. You can take a chance with JB Weld, and filing it down to restore the original shape....but I'd replace the manifold since most of the work is already done, and you don't want to do it again. Fix the thermostat housing leak to avoid this happening again. Glue the cork mustache gaskets in place with adhesive to keep them in place. Or better yet, get the rubber ones....glue them too.
