Question about Chrysler Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Code P0736, P0731, P0720, P0700

My car has been acting funny, of course. The main things that I have noticed are when it runs in the driveway in park the speedo reads that the MPH goes up to 30, then down to 10, then up to 20 then back to 0. The second thing is when it drives, it doesn't shift funny or shake, until i go to stop. Right before I come to a complete stop, it jerks forward then is fine. Any help?

The shop cleaned all codes and checked all plugs. Everything looked very clean, but the transmission started acting up the next day. I have a core transmission that I got from a friend (its the same year and size motor, 2.7L). I was thinking of changing over the sensors, but im not sure which ones to exchange. I can clearly see two screw in with what looks like a 26mm socket. Any tips or pointers?

Well code 700 is a generic code that means there is a problem with the transmission or the control module.
Code 736 is an incorrect gear ratio for reverse, code 731 is incorrect ratio in first gear, and 720 is the code for the speed sensor which involves the engine computer as well as the speedo.
Its possible the speed sensor is causing the other codes.
I would have a shop check the speed sensor circuit, clear the codes, and see how many come back then proceed with more testing as needed.

SOURCE: 2001 madza shakes

This usually is just either a wheel got scraped into a curb or hit a pot hole so the wheel is off balance or one of the weights came off and still it would make it off balance but its a easy and cheap fix you can either rotate your own tires and put the fronts to the back and backs up to the front or take it to a tire place and have them balance each wheel it costs about 10 bucks per wheel to be done, if you have any other questions just let me know id be glad to hel[ also if you get a chance if you could rate me it would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks,
Steve

all the codes listed above are saying incorrect ratio for each gear, you should take this to a dealer he can determine which faulty sensor on the transmission is causing this,it is not a internal transmission problem

SOURCE: transmission problem on my 2001 dodge caravan

Not good if it makes a grinding noise. Needs a tech or replacement as something most likely has come loose inside the transmission.

99 Plymouth voyager and these codes came up p0731, p0732, p0736, p0700 what can i do about it

Probably not much you can do yourself.
Code 700 is a general fault code for the transmission or control module. Code 731 is for incorrect ratio for first gear, 732 is for 2nd gear, and 736 is for reverse. The actual problem could be mechanical or electrical, including the transmission control module.
You would need a shop manual and the necessary tools to check the circuits and solenoids inside the transmission.

Check your transmission output shaft speed sensor. First check that the connector is clean, free of corrosion, secured firmly and that wires have good insulation. If all looks well at this point then disconnect the speed sensor, remove it and clean its tip of any debris and see if this clears the DTC. If not change the sensor for a new one (less than $30). This should fix it.

I have a 2005 Dodge Neon and the engine light came on. It has codes P0700 (Transmission Control System (MIL Request); P0720 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit; P0731 Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio

a had the same problem. i am 99.9 percent sure that the wires going to the sensors underneathe the battery box and air intake are broke inside the insulation. Get to where you can see the connectors. remove the tape from both sensor connectors and give the wires a pull each wire done seperately. Mine was an orange wire and a purple wire. It is not noticeable by looking at the wires because it is the copper wire inside the insulation that will be broke. Find the broke ones and splice in new wire and the problem will be fixed.

2005 dodge neon codes p0731, p0700, p0573 and p0720

The codes listed all point to the transmission being in bad shape or some wiring got crossed. Check with a trans shop for an estimate.
