Question about 1994 Chrysler LeBaron

1 Answer

Over Heating I just replaced the thermostat, but my car is still over heating. My car starts up just fine and it sound so smooth. There are no check engine light on the dash. The only time a light comes on is when the car starts to over heat (about 8 miles of driving it), then the check gauge light comes on. The next step is a water pump. But I don't want to replace the water pump if it's not the problem. Can someone help me out with this one? Bee

Did you bleed the system and replace any lost coolant? Is the system also clean?

Air and other blockages in the line will cause that problem.

SOURCE: Overheating engine

Check your oil dipstick for coolant, or a mucky substance. Your symptoms sound like a blown head gasket.

SOURCE: Heater on 1995 Chrysler Concorde stopped heating.

there are no reset codes, did you bleed the air out of the cooling system? if not do this procedure, if that doeasn't fix it u have a failed air temperasture control blend door motor actuator.
The generic method of bleeding air from the cooling system is to use a floor jack and raise the front of the car as high as poss, then fill the coolant recovery tank full and run the engine until it just starts to overheat, high end of normal zone on gauge, then shut the engine down and run cold water over the radiator core, this will self bleed the system and the coolant will be pulled from the recovery tank, repeat as necessary, never let the recovery tank run dry or more air will be pulled into the cooling systeml ,

Engine over heats while driving but cools down at idle

while driving coolant will cool down because air is flowing across radiator at idle no air movement ---check fan operation as well----- but until you fix leak you will still over heat due to lack of coolant and pressure

Can i remove thermostat of Toyota Camry 1999 model due to over heating? If yes will it have any implication to the car?

you can remove it but it is not the cause of your problem. If the thermostat sticks it will overheat with ac on or off. Sounds like the belt is slipping due to the extra force required to turn the A/C . You may have a problem with your belt, belt tensioner or the A/C compressor

I replace the oil pump and the oil sensor, and the oil light keeps beeping and the car is over heating, and the fan is not running

Check to see if your thermostat needs replacing. Sounds like a rad over heating problem.... oil pump problem would seize your engine...open rad cap on a cold engine, start her up and look down into rad, takes a few min but if it doesn't circulate after 4 min then your water pump or thermostat needs replacing

My 2005 nissan altima has no heat

If before you change the thermostat,if the car has always had that thermostat in it,and the heater heated before and the engine is not overheating, the thermostat is most likely fine. But that is the cheapest way to start,Lissa is on the right track there. The heating element may need replaced..

My radiator hose exploded just before the thermostat. The serpantine belt has a single groove on the smooth side. of course the car overheated. when i 1st started there was loud screaching sounds coming...

Sounds more like the water pump has locked up...try to spin the pump pulley...the thermostat could have been stuck closed initially causing the over heating, and hose explosion...The serpentine belt will usually immediatelt become contaminated and wear out as anti freeze drenches the pump pulley, and belt...Hope this helps your diagnosis.

1997 northstar new water pump tuneup started back fire when starting now and then sumetimes hard to start. then replaced lecking upper rade hose the would ouer heat lick out coolent then bowledover then...

You may have a blown head gasket. To verify on your own, park on an incline, remove radiator cap, start car and allow to warm up. After thermostat opens and coolant is flowing in radiator, fill the radiator to the neck and watch for bubbles coming up. If combustion gasses come out the radiator, you have a blown head gasket. You may have to race the engine a bit to get them to come out, as it sounds like your mostly leaks under higher engine load. Let me know if this isn't it or if you have more questions.
