Depends.
How many miles on the engine, what is the problem with the heads, and how long are you going to keep the vehicle ?

How to replace light bulbs in a Jerdon Tri-fold makeup mirror

In order to replace bulbs, look at the back of the mirror. There will be four white circle coverings hiding the screw heads, and these must be drilled open in order to access the screws that hold the two halves of the mirror together (these coverings will not have to be replaced). Once these screws are located and unscrewed, flip the mirror back over and remove the top half. Carefully, replace the bulbs.

Where is my power steering pump located? (3100 v6 engine)

It is right on top of the front center of the engine. (Right side of car) It has a cap on top that is marked "POWER STEERING"
If you look in the owner's Manual on page 6-10 there is a picture of the engine compartment with arrows to show you where it is. It is marked by arrow "E".

Engine is running hot. What are the possible reasons why?

blown head gasket, Is this a 3400 motor?? ok its very important to diagnos this quick. im not saying this is the problem but these motors are known for blowing the head gasket around 89,000 to 105,000 miles. What happens is anti-freeze gets into oil and if enough it breaks the camshaft in half (a lousy hollow piece of pipe with pressed on lobes) the water crystalizes the cam and it snaps causing valve damage, piston damage. Pretty much calls for a motor change as by time you put cost repairs into old motor it is a lot cheaper to do the swap. I swaped my 3400 for a 3100 and the 3100 has plenty of power and great milage. Of course though check and fill radiator and coolant reservoir till full, also need to check thermostat for proper operation.did i mention check oil level ? Is it over full? and the radiator low? I have a 98, paid 500.00 for great condition bad motor, paid 500.00 for a 3100 with 42,000 on it. after all the work " i did myself" I love this van, i"m looking to buy another one. I'd rather drive this van than my 03 yukon xl and i really like that trk also. Dont let this go on, if van is in the condition as mine (GREAT NO RUST) for a michigan vehicle, get this checked out. ITS worth the fix, Market value $3000.00 - $3500.00

V.w.jetta gas eng. timing belt broke ? .shut engine off then wood not start . dealer says needs head work ? bent valves? without disasembling is it possible valves never came into contact with pistons ?

Hi, im afraid i can only give you bad news im afraid, if the engine was running even on tick over when the belt snapped then this would have caused the valves to smash into the pistons as the top half of engine would have stopped spinning leaving at least 2 valves in the out position but what causes the damage is the bottom half of the engine, as their is no weight on the cams to keep them turning they stop at once but the bottom half the crank has a big weight called the fly wheel now when the belt snapped the cams would have stopped dead but the crank would have carried on turning under its own weight and this is what causes the piston or pistons to hit the valves this then causes the valves to bend and all the valves will need replacing and the whole top end rebuilding with new seals and the new valves and valve seats will need grinding in.

how ever as its only usually the top half that gets damaged you could save yourself some time and money by calling a local breakers yard and see if they have a cylinder head lying around or even a whole engine as the cost of rebuilding you head and engine would cost more than it would to get a second hand cylinder head or if you didnt want to take any chances look into getting a whole engine.

look at the costs involved get a quote off you garage for the head rebuilt and new valves, tell them worse case if it needed complete head rebuild with all new valves and valve seats and all the seals get a price on the whole job then ask them how much it would cost if you supplied a working cylinder head or even whole engine then compare the prices and check with some breakers for cylinder head prices or engine and you should find that a second hand head will work out cheaper than having yours stripped and rebuilt with new parts.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

The bolts that hold the fuel tank straps both snapped. how do i get access to the top halves and where can i find replacements 1997 Chevy Blazer 4 door

Replacements should be available from the dealer-if not then a salvage yard. You can bring as much of the bolt as you can extract to Napa or a Hardware store and see if you can find a match. To get the other half of the bolt removed, you can try using vice-grips to turn from the bottom (unless the head is still in the other half-if this is the case, you can purchase a multi-positional head rachet handle to gain access to those hard to reach places).

If your just replacing the head gasket, you don't have to remove the motor. Just remove the top part of the engine.
