Pajero v6 engine

Hi My Mitsubishi pajero gdi V6 engine. The engine light has come on and there is a taping noise coming from the engine. any I dears?

If the engine light came on, there is a trouble code present. Most parts stores will scan for codes at no charge. please post codes for more information. With the tapping, I would definitely check the oil level.

205 is the width in mm. 65 is the hight of the sidewall (.65x205=133.25mm)65 percent of the with. 15 is the diamater in inches of the rim (tire hole) for example if you keep the same rims 205 75 15 would be the same width but slightly taller.
215 65 15 is wider and taller as 65% of 215 is 139.75 millimeters. if you go to 16 or 17 inch rims u can get much bigger. the width of the tire must not rub on the insides of the fenders. the hight must not contact the top of fender taking in consideration the suspension. u can look for car clubs of that model and chat with the members.

I believe this engine is with interference, therefore valve damage is possible. To check if it is with interference, remove all of the spark plugs, carefully and gently, by hand, rotate over the crank, if it contacts a valve (do this carefully) well.... then you have your answer. I'd then replace the belt with proper timing and do a compression check. If a valve went bad, you know quickly.

Hi, an intermittent poor idle can be caused by certain valves that are perhaps not always closing properly. Three valves I would check are the EGR, purge, and idle air control valve. The EGR valve can get dirty and start to jam. The purge valve sometimes gets charcoal coming thru the line from the vapor cannister, and the charcoal can hold the valve open when it's supposed to be closed. The idle air control valve is the valve that is supposed to control your idle. If it is not opening properly, the car will not idle right. I explain a lot of this in the following post:

On your car, I am not sure which emission controls are installed. If you have evaporative emission laws, you will have a vapor cannister somewhere in the engine compartment. I believe the purge valve is atop the cannister on the Pajero. Pull the hose off to see if there is charcoal in it. Also look inside the valve where you pulled the hose off to see if it is closed.
There are pictures below of the idle air control valve and the EGR valve. The idle air control valve is mounted on the throttle body, near where the cables from the accelerator pedal attach to the engine. Take the valve off and see if it needs cleaning. Also clean out the passages in the throttle body. Use carburetor cleaner to clean these parts. Also clean out the inside throttle body, if dirty.
Finally, if these valves seemed to be OK, take off the EGR valve and clean it out. Make sure it closes by default. If not, replace it. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, 2003 Mitsubishi pajero 3.5 V6 GDI, the car starts and runs fine under 3000RPM as soon as you get to 3000RPM the car shudders and struggles to change gears. (A/T) flat surface it battles to.

Bad plugs, wires, coil(s) or ignition module most likely. If all good, check coolant temp sensor and then cat converter.

Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed 1997 Model Engine #6G74 GDI V6 3500,no power,I suspect its the engine control unit,I order the ECU,but still no power,probably its crankshaft and camshaft sensor.

I solve this problem with Mitshubishi Pajero GDI 6G74 like this: remove the two little filters from the high pressure pump and ,if necessary, insert a external gasoline filter.

dissconect the hot side cable for 5 minutes then conect it back on,it should stop blinking.
