No you would not get a better speed . If you want more speed the answer is in the diff ratio so you will have to change the crown wheel and pinion . That is to say if you have a ratio of 3.5 to 1 then a ratio of 3..25 to 1is faster. Talk with a transmission rebuilder and he will advise of a good ratio to get the speed you want. Remember that a ratio change will alter your speed reading on the speedo

SOURCE: heat wont work 2001 lincoln town car cartia

Hello Callahan5922....this sounds like a stuck blower motor resistor. I assume the blower won't function in the a/c mode either? If you have a digital multimeter you can check this. I believe it's fuse #2....if the digital indicator goes up or down when you increase or decrease the fan speed thats good. Locate the blower motor resistor....you wil find it located on the fire wall behind the right valve cover hiding behind the heater hose, it's about the size of a cigarette pack. With the engine off, and key in on position, turn the A/C on High, and rap a tap tap tap on the resistor. You might be suprised when the blower motor takes off a runnin,
I hope this is the answer you need and i was able to help solve this for you. Good luck...

SOURCE: 1996 Lincoln Town Car trunk motor won't shut off

under the trunk lip (directly where the latch goes into the lock jaws; remove the carpet so that you can see the side of the trunk latch; on the latch jaws (bottom) is a switch that contacts the latch (top) this switch is broken or, mis-aligned it opens (stops the trunk motor) when the latch contacts it.

I have a 1981 Lincoln Town car, with a 460 motor, 5.0. Where is the knock sensor located at? Thanks in advance.

I don't think an '81 would have a knock sensor. I don't think this car would even have an engine computer. And by the way, a 460 motor is not a 5.0 liter, it is much bigger, a 5.0 L ford engine would be the small block 302 cu. in. engine.

Tough question to answer unless this is a project car for the off season. Buy a donor car that has a very good body and a wated engine and swap out the parts. To perform welding is extreamly hard for a do it your selfer. Stainless steel in fact welders hate to weld for its toxic as hell

Looking for a little more power for f250 have 302 4x4 4 speed granny.wondering what it would take to install small block 351

not too much work, the motor mounts-bell housing and crankshaft (for the flywheel off the 302)all should be the same.if the 351 had an automatic transmission, then you will have to add a pilot bearing to the end of the crank (center of crank where flywheel bolts on)..Also it depends on which oil pan is on the new engine--to follow the curve of the frame but should be the same as a 302....302 and 351 windsor engines are the same block except the intake manifold.Just a reminder, truck engines have a better cam for more torque. If the truck is fuel injected you will also have to change the computer which would be located drivers side left upper kick panel. The exhaust manifolds may be different, check them out before starting the procedure.

Transmission downshifts hard when I let off the gas at slow speeds

Transmission sensor.your gear ratio was not set up properly..Its supposed to be mapped out soo the tranny shifts at a neutral rpm(around 2500-3400 rpm) its punching into gear correct?could have been a rebuilt tranny in which case they just replace the current problem..Or it could be a flywheel.1st thing to get done is to change the transmission fluid and filter.Goto midas or somewhere like they and they call it a flush and fill and it costs around $160 which is best case scenario.

Motor oil in transmission

Are you sure it's not just a dirty and burn transmission fluid?? But if it is engine oil you may have a bad radiator since the transmission cooler and engine oil cooler is integrated with the radiator.
Good luck and keep me posted.
