SOURCE: my 2003 honda pilot is difficult to shift into

There could be a number of issues with a Honda Pilot not shifting into drive. In fact, I had this problem with my 2003 Honda Pilot two weeks ago and had to replace my transmission. More than 100,000 2003 Honda Pilots were recalled in 2004 because of a transmission problem -- was your Honda part of that recall? If so, Honda may help you with some of the costs.

If the problem is not with the transmission, I suggest making sure that your steering column is not locked. You will also notice that on the top of the steering column is a small plate. If you remove the plate and press down with a coin, you can unlock the steering column, enabling you to shift into drive.

Hopefully these solutions will help...but be sure to see your auto service shop for more details on your situation.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Common problem will be sludge build up blocking the solenoid. Normally rectified by running a engine flush and then change the oil then have a garage clear the code. If the solenoid is completely blocked, you will have to replace it.

How to disable ABS brake in 2011 pilot?

Remove the fuse, but you will most likely have a light on your
dash & obd codes stored & can't go to inspection

Then you will eventually have moisture in the brake fluid, in the
abs hcu unit, from it not working the solenoids or changing the fluid
every two years,no one knows about or ever does,so not a good
idea,so why do it.

Do you know the computer strategy?

Will the vehicle even drive properly or
at all, with the abs motor off?

We can't live in the 1960's, we have to learn today's
technology & fix it

Gear changes from P without brakes being applied

The park lock on the shift is an electrical operated solenoid by the brake light circuit, sounds like the solenoid has gone faulty and stopped working in the unlocked position, Need to test the circuit and solenoid.
