SOURCE: what does the orange engine
This will come on when you have a drop in oil pressure, or not enough oil in the system. Check the oil dip stick, and when you pull it(make sure the car is pretty level, and the engine has not been run for about 20 minutes(more accurate reading)), wipe it off with an old rag, re-insert it and pull it out. look at the marking on the stick. It will have a marking for safe, and if its below that, you are low on oil, Some of the newer models will have the light come on to remind you its time to change the oil, and have to be reset. If your car is a year old or newer, check the owners manual to see if this is installed on your car. Most of these are set to come on between 3 and 5 thousand miles(after being reset) to remind you to change the oil. I hope this helps
