SOURCE: VW Beetle Alarm goes off for no apparent reason

the sensitivity on the alarm itself is too high, or there is something around the car that is interfering with the frequencies that are sent / received by the alarm itself, like other car alarms, power lines (mine actually did it when i parked under a power line) or the alarm unit itself is malfunctioning.

make sure that nothing is around to the (other cars with alarms) or look up under your dash, above your pedals (might have to take the trim plate off) and / or turn the sensitivity knob (flat-head screw driver, or just a simple protruding knob) down. make sure the battery in the remote is good too. if it stil ldoes it after this, then your remote needs to be reprogrammed.

SOURCE: intermittently, when I lock the

Sounds like the sensors are bad. Night time brings, moist and cold air which make the sensor more susceptible to malfunction. I suggest testing your sensors (depending on your can you, the interior lights may stay on). Alternatively if you have an after market alarm system, the sensitivity may be set to high.

Most likely the contacts at the window switch are dirty and the humidity caused an intermittent short. If it happens again try removing the switch and cleaning it.

The alarm system on my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GL keeps turning on by itself

You must have the dealer keep the car until this fault occurs and then scan the security system to see what is causing the triggering of the security system. It is very possible that the drivers door ajar switch or latch switch is defective and it triggers a false tampering signal.

TPM is alarming every 30 seconds since the weather went cold. How do I silence the alarm..... I know how to reset the TPM but that doesn't work.

Cold weather causes air to condense and air pressure to be reduced, causing your tires to read low pressure to the TPM. Check and fill all your tires to your recommended vehicle inflation pressure, to stop the TPM from alarming you every 30 seconds.

We have an audi a4 and the alarm keeps going off for no reason- what should we do- please help

On an Audi with the simple alarm system (no motion sensor and no disarm button on door centerpost) the fuse cannot be pulled without also disabling the power door locks. You may also have problems with your license plate, back up or fog lights. I tracked my car alarm and light problem to the wiring to the trunk lid on the driver side. The wiring is enclosed in a sleeve and attached to the two parts of the hinge with a free section in the middle to bend as the trunk opens and closes. Inside this bending section I found the separate wires either broken completely or the insulation cracked, creating intermittent shorts and activating the alarm. I reconnected and taped the insulation and the problem was solved.

Alarm keeps going off and dont have key to deactivate how can I silence the alarm

Finbd the FOB that came with the car or go to the dealer for one. You won't be able to silence the alarm, since it's equipped with an internal immobiliser.

You will probably find the oil level in the exchange box is low and the sensor is activating.

Hi, my alarm went off at the store Yesterday, I put the key in and turned it several times but it still won't start or disable the security? How can I clear it, I unhooked the battery too, but still won't...

just putting the key in the ignition will not do anything you have to turn the key to the on position until you see the red lights then press the unlock button on the key pad, while some alarm system has a reset button installed somewhere in the vehcile
