The first thing i would check is the rubber channnels that guide the window. The smooth coating on the rubber will wear out causing the window to stick to the channel. Very common.

Given that it's the drivers' side window, it makes sense that the rubber channels would degrade. Question is, what to do about it? Spray on some silicon? WD-40? Can't imagine you'd have to replace the channels, would you?

SOURCE: 1991 Nissan Maxima: Fix driver side window

davdancast:The problem you have described is more than likely window regulator failure and/or window motor failure where the gears in the motor have broken. 99% of the time though, it's the regulator. Nearly every automotive manufacturer has gone to this "CHEAP"!!!! design. It consists of an aluminum track which sits vertically when installed. There is a nylon runner which runs in the guide of this track and the window it self is attached by two bolts that a 10mm socket will remove. On the outskirts of the regulator is a series of nylon pulleys which a small twisted metal cable run on and the cable runs into a casing which is affixed to the inner door housing. The window motor is bolted to the regulator utilizing the same size bolts as the regulator. The failure is due to the nylon parts breaking and then the cable comes out of place, consequently the window drops to the bottom of the door.
The regulator from Nissan is rather expensive, but DOOMAN, makes one which is available from many auto parts houses at a considerable savings.
In terms of skill level? In our trade, it is listed at level "B": must have some reasonably decent mechanical aptitude. The pitfalls if you don't know what you are doing? Break the driver's door window switch: $140. = tax if you don't know how to disconnect the harness from the switch. You had better check with salvage yards on the price of door glass and interior door panels because CPR is not part of my job description and you will need it if you price new parts! The actual job isn't that difficult, but you need to take your time, read up on the subject. Go to a Barnes an Noble and pick up a Haynes shop manuel or look through a variety of other shop manuals. You don't have to buy them, just study the instructions and put the book back. If you plan on keeping your car and doing some of the work your self, go in line, you may find some deals on used shop manuals.
If I've helped you out, give the folks at FIXYA some feedback please.. Good luck and if I can be of further assistance, just ask and I'll do my best to help.
It's kind of IRONIC, the first car that I saw this design of window regulator on was in Fiats from the 1960's! Here is an interesting "SNIGLET" The old Rolls Royce cars from the 60's and back used either what was or what appeared to be bicycle chains to offer positive drive to the window lifts!

These window motors do periodically fail. Instead of trying to tinker with the motor itself, best to cut right to replacing the window motor. You can buy them online. Don't buy the cheap ones with the short warranty. Make sure you get the ones that have a multi-year or lifetime warranty, as they are usually of a higher quality. I just replaced one for my 94 Camry and the part cost $67.00 with a lifetime warranty. Make sure that the bottom of the window is securely bolted to the unit, Check to make sure the bolt made it all the way through both parts, as it is easy to overlook it if not fully secure.

It sounds like the MAIN SWITCH on the driver's side "master power window control panel" is OFF or defective.

The hatch on my 2015 honda crv does not open in cold weather what can be done

Hello Louis,
Unless there is something else causing this, the most likely cause is that the gasket around the hatch (and doors) is sticking to it's mating surface. The gasket should be sprayed with WD-40 or silicone spray to help prevent them from sticking together especially when its cold and maybe damp.
Good Luck!

Your Land Rover is no doubt fuel injected.maybe cold start injector. injects gasoline when starting in the cold, carburated vehicles used to have a choke to enrich air/fuel ratio when starting in cold.

Sounds like it's time for a new battery. When it gets gold your battery gets a little weaker and doesn't have enough power to crank the engine (even if there is enough power to work the accessories/lights.

I have a 2004 Allroad. the temperature as of late has been extremely cold. Now the suspension won't raise at all. is it just the weather or is it the suspension itself?

Temp may cause slower response but it sounds like the cold may have caused a leak in the valve body or one of the plastic lines or bag seals.

My car won't start, every time it gets cold it does this???? the lights turn on but it doesn't turn over, last year I the fuse box went out because all the electronics in my car where using too...

One reason GM vehicles dont start, especially when the weather changes isdue tofaulty antitheft systems. Next time this happens, look for a light on the dash that says secury or antitheft. Picture might look like a car with a padlock thru the window, If you see any of these lights, that will explain why it doesnt start. This link explains. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

I have a 1997 honda crv that crank slow in cold weather.

Slower cranking in cold weather is normal due to the oil being thicker and other tolerances being tighter. As long as the engine fires within 3-5 seconds I wouldn't worry about it. If it cranks REAL slow or is excessively slow to start, I'd tune it up (plugs, wires, distributor cap, etc.) and change the oil to the lowest viscosity recommended. Also, I'd have the battery tested and replaced if it shows marginal.

the actual power window motor is getting old and probably needs replacement. as they age they get slower and picky about which way they want to go, outside temp also affects the operation also. in warmer weather they tend to work better
