Check for a faulty resistor in the blower box. They burn out. There is a resistor for each speed setting.

I've just fixed same problem by replacement of the switch you talking about. You need just remove radio first and switch panel to access the switch.To remove radio insert some 2 watch screwdrivers of 2 mm diameter in 2 holes on right side , press them to the middle and pull right side out. Repeat it for left side.The switch costed me $58 at deeler.

I have the same problem with my 2002 F-250. I checked the r134a and it was within the limits. I raised it to the upper part of the safe level. I notice that after the 10-15 minutes that my compressor starts to go off and on. It starts and stops immediately. Could this be a pressure switch? does your compressor run constantly? or does it shut off like mine? I am interested to find this out too!
