If the radiator cap is not allowing the radiator to maintain proper pressure, the coolant will boil and overflow the bottle reservoir.
Check radiator pressure and replace the cap if the pressure drops.
Hope this helps.

If the thermostat is not opening, the engine will keep getting hotter as you drive. You could be low on coolant and have air pockets in the system which would cause the temp gauge to not be accurate. Is the radiator fan coming on when the tank is boiling ?

My engine coolant is boiling in the overflow

Is the engine showing any signs via the dash that it is overheating? Dash lights? Engine temp gauge pegging out on the red overheat line? If so, then you will have to go further and see if your thermostat is stuck closed, thus needing to replace it. Depending on the age and coolant change schedule (or lack of) you might have to have the radiator professionally cleaned at a radiator shop.

Does your heater in the cabin, heat up after the car has been running? Depending on the climate and elevation where you live, make sure you are running the right mix of antifreeze and water. Any auto parts shop should be able to tell you for your make and model (and you can find this online) what mix you should be running.

Well, I would say that the radiator would be next on your list, but usually the overflow is attached to the radiator, so that should be impossible to boil before radiator. How does the temperature gauge look? Even if any parts are hot to the touch that doesn't necessarily mean they are overheated. It may be that the system is still working out bubbles, hence the overflow boiling over.

Temp gauge spikes to hot

Sounds like you have air in the coolant system.. did you bleed the system after you replaced all this?.. did you replace the thermostat? You might add a comment about why you replaced these things .. and how you know they were failing>

Overheating

it could very well be a bad gauge. when it shows the engine to be overheated or at the least very hot, check the actual temp at the water outlet where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. use a non contact thermometer to check the temp so as not to get burned in the process. if the thermometer reads way different than the gauge, the gauge is bad.
