Check for loose connect on the switch at the box or on the shift lever. Check fuse of the reverse lights.

Why did my car stall when in reverse gear?

I need a little more info. I presume it is automatic, not a manual trans. Was it multiple times that it stalled when you shifted to reverse? or just 1 time. Is the check engine light on, and/or the D4 light flashing?

reverse lights are on a different circuit to the brake/tail/clearance lights. Check fuses for the others.

Reverse light doesn't light up every

The travel in the switch has probably increased in the time you have had the car. The switch- or shifting linkage directly related to the reverse light switch- may have some adjustment left. If not probably a new switch would fix it.
