Wife,s 97 buick skylark, 2.4 L., leaking water. need help!!!

97 buick skylark, 2.4 L, it's leaking water and I'm not sure how to fix it. it looks like it is leaking from a seal, if your under the car on the passenger side, and you look up, at the bottom of where you put the oil in, it looks like it's connected to the engine by a gasket. I'm not sure what that is, i'm not real educated about front wheel drive and i feel like an idiot, i need help, thank you

I had the same problem a month ago. I thought it was the thermostat, which sits inside the lower water feed tube that runs from the radiator, under the car and up between the engine and trans axle to the thermostat housing and water-inlet housing attached to the water pump. I replaced it and it kept leaking. So I got under the car with a mirror and a light and found that it was leaking from a weep hole in the water pump. This happens when the water pump seal is bad. to replace the water pump you nearly have to take apart the back of the engine and the timing chain cover. The waterpump is mounted at the bottom of the back of the engine and is turned by the timimng chain. It took me two days to fix, and it was not easy. There are a couple of sites that have info, which helped me. It's about a $600 - $900 job if you take it to a repair shop.

That would be the water pump which is run by the timing chain.

MY 1996 buick skylark olympic edition leaks water on to the driver's side floor. I have replaced the heater core.Is it possible it is a hidden leak at the base of front window or under cowl trim of some...

Taste the water and if it is sweet it is coolant leaking from the heater core. If it does not taste sweet it is a leak somewhere else. What you suspect is very possible. Start by making sure the drain hose is clear an not clogged. Then check the window gasket. A water hose left running on the window slightly will tell you where the leak is coming from.

is it water or coolant, and do you have water in the radiator or antifreeze, i asume you have coolant so the leak is water then it coming from the heater box which is normal, the water is condensation from a/c so if the a/c is on or defrost you will get water drain out this is normal operation.hope this is helpful.

97 buick skylark ac evaporator core what do i need to do to get to it

Did you replace the schrader valves (the thing in the inside of the A/C service fittings, you need a special tool to remove and install them) before you recharged the system? They are notorious for leaking if they are old.

If you did not, replace those and try again, if it leaks out again with no evidence you most likely have a bad evap core.

And yes, it's a pain in the ****, plan on it taking a 30 pack of bud light and a weekend to do, or one day and a 12 pack if you are good. Just start taking the dash apart, and may the force be with you. It will be behind the glove box
