I have my code but dont know how to put it in my 2006 Chevrolet radio

This is easy, you will need a 7mm socket. To the right of your radio you will see the end of the square trim bezel around the radio, air bag switch, hvac controls ect, start by pulling firmly on that panel, you'll then start pulling toward the drivers door carefully getting the panel looser and looser, drop your steering wheel down with the adjuster on the bottom left of the steering column and remove the panel, next remove the 2 7mm screws on the left of the radio and the 1 7mm on the right of the radio, remove the radio and electrical connections, reverse for install.

If i have a radio controlled steering column with floor shift can i use a 97 steering column without radio control

should not be an issue. the wiring connector for the radio control is on a seperate wiring harness, and will just be left abandoned. all the other wiring should be the same. good luck!

Wheres the deposit for pwer steering

The HHR does not use power steering fluid; it has an electric power steering motor which is mounted on the steering column under the dash. The motor has no adjustment and no maintenance is required. If you are having problems with the power steering failing you will need to contact the dealer.

I have a chevy cobalt coupe 2005-2006. More like a 2005 but considered a 2006. It was wrecked, and the radio will not turn off. Think it might be a fuse but I need to know which fuse to check/replace. It...

If the radio fuse was blown, the radio wouldn't work.
You are guessing and have no idea what to do.
Get a wiring diagram and a VOM Meter ,and learn how to use it.

Electric power steering info comes on after a few minutes of use if i turn off the engine it works again for a few more minutes or hours.

The power steering control module is the problem. The diagnostics say to replace the power steering motor first, if the steering works its fixed. Most of the time it don't fix the problem and the steering column has to be replaced anyway. The power steering control module is installed on the column and the only way to get it is to replace the column. Dealer cost is around 650.00.

I have steering wheel mounted controls that have burned out, and wanted to know where I could buy replacements.

without more detail, are we talking audio/cruise control/and the like .
On the back side of the steering wheel there are metal rings that the switch wires are connected to, they make contact to spring loaded pins.
that way the wheel can go around and around .
some times its as simple as cleaning those contacts.
if all the switches went out at the same time i would check the wire terminal plugs at the bottom of the steering column.
your local chevy dealer can help you out on parts.
or if your trying to economize try a local or on-line automotive recycling yard.
hope this gets you going

Power Steering

Yes your absolutly right.
I have a 2006 Cobalt and my power steering completly failed. And this isn't a cheap fix. A quote of over $700 for a steering column replacement because these cars run electronic steering. Unless your under warrenty start searching salvage yards for working steering columns.

Car dangerous with no power steering

This is a well known problem with these Cobalts. Ours (we had 2) both had to have the steering column replaced to fix this.
It's caused because the power steering assist (electric motor) on the column stops working. It usually will reset after you shut the car down for a few minutes and restart it.
Hopefully it's under warranty, else it'll cost a grand or more to replace.
