Local Chevy dealership says all parts for 1996 Impala SS are no longer available. Need schematics under the hood.

Go on ebay and buy a factory service manual, you may also do an internet search for a used wiring harness.

Get it scanned again. If you bought cheaper ones at the parts store instead of oem ones from the dealer you are probably going to be doing them again. The upstream and down stream 02 sensors communicate with each other so it could be the upstream sensors even though it says downstream. I ran into this problem myself.

Put new starter on and battery lights won't come on nor will the car turn over. some rats build a nest in the engine compartment, so i do know how to get the car to start. help me please.

Hi,
Have you put a new battery in the car? If so and it still won't start, try retracing the wires under the hood to be sure the rats haven't chewed through any of them!

1996 chevy impala ss

the spark on your engine is controled by a componet called "opti-spark" it is located behind the water bump. it acts as your distribitor and ignition coil. they are a bit time consuming to change out and are very expensive! i would suggest having your local chevrolet dealer diagnose it just to be sure due to the expense involved for this unit. i hope this helps you..good luck

ps as i recall from my chevy dealership days, i beleive it was around $1000 installed..but that was a few years ago..proice could change either way now..
