Question about Jaguar XJ6
My 1996 Jag xj6 was working fine and I stopped for gas. When I stepped down on the gas to quickly accelerate to highway speed, the car would not shift out of third gear. Now it starts off in third and stays in third. I don't think it is even starting in second (in Normal Shift Mode) and it won't start off in first gear in (Sport Shift Mode) Can anyone give any suggestions on what broke or came loose? I had a Pontiac act similarly and it was a vacuum line that came lose. I had a Ford van E150 that had a similar problem and it was a shift cable that broke. I don't know that much about the Jag yet, but I am sure I can fix it if I can find the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Terry firstname.lastname@example.org
Check for a vacuum line failure or vacuum actuator failure if you have one other wise check for the down shift cable connection.

SOURCE: Bucking on Hard Acceleration
You best bet would be to look for the vacuum diagram and just take a day to make sure all of the lines to the engine and tranny are all correct. If its not it and while bucking the car feels like its going to turn off on you then it maybe a fuel delivery problem.

Take it to a transmission shop that has a Tech 2 scanner. The tech 2 scanner will not only scan the transmission but can also recalibrate the shift points. Other reason to why it wont shift under WOT it low transmission fluid pressure so check the fluid level and have a pressure test done on the line.
The 4L60E is a great transmission but there are some things that don't work well with them like some shift kits. The ECM is program the shift points which get's messed up if done wrong. best upgrade on the 4L60E was to swap out the servos for corvette servos or after market performance one's all for under $100.00 and in most case better then a after market shift kit.
Good luck and hope this help. take care not to burn up the transmission.

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

I have a s40 1.9d / 2000 plate,
In the last month or so the car loses revs when changing up to 3rd and 4th gear, I can only get 50 mph max in 3rd gear 80mp in 4th.
The car has just clocked 185,000 miles
Its a great car but a pai at the moment, I've had a service including fuel fillter change added fuel cleaners to the deilsel all to no avail
