Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a 03 saturn vue and my service engine light is on and the rpm slowly rises and lowers without pushing the gas. Also, the engine starts to shake. After idling for around 3 minutes, the fan kicks on. I do not lose power.I took it and had a diagnostic ran on it, and no codes appeared. I also had the plugs and wires checked and they were fine---any suggestions will help! thanks
The engine light is telling you that the CPU has found
sensor/s outside set parameters during the checking process. Have the fault codes read before wasting time and money guessing what has failed. Replace with genuine items only as aftermarket units are not always compatible with the settings in the CPU. The engine has told you that there are faults in sensors and the running engine is telling you that there is something very wrong. I would take it to a dealer for a proper diagnostic check as some code readers are not suitable for every vehicle.

I would try another place for the code check. If the check engine light is on there are trouble codes stored in the computer.
It could be a wiring harness problem or any number of electrical components, including injectors.

Here is the definition of the code in GM manual:
P0128 - Coolant Thermostat Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature, this indicates the engine is running cold, u need a thermostat

It is most likely the Throttle Position Sensor has gone bad. But if the check engine light is on, the only way to tell exact problem, is to have a scanner placed on the vehicle to have the codes read.

SOME TIME PCM GET A VOLTAGE SPIKE.OR ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE WILL CAUSE SERVICE LIGHT TO COME ON WITH NO CODES.IF IT KEEP HAPPENING TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT.

take the ground line of the battery and press the brake for a few minutes and if the life is still on have the vehicle scann and clear code and have the emission components for the vehicle check

Did you use the recommended plugs or did you use a new style like E-3 or Bosch +4 or something similar. Sometimes using a plug other than the original type can cause problems. Check and make sure all the wires or plug connections to the plugs are secure. Check to see if a spark plug has a cracked insulator. If you used antiseize on the threads make sure none of it got on the spark plug electrode or it will missfire.
Hope these ideas help.
