You don't have a key to unlock the door ?
It might be easier to hook a jumper cable to the battery post on the starter from under the car, instead of trying to open the hood thru the grille.

SOURCE: hood release inside my 2000

Your hood is supposed to "pop" open from the latch when you pull on the hood release in the car. You have one of two problems...
1. Everything is working fine except the rubber bumpers under your hood are set too low and not providing the "spring force" necessary for the hood to pop free from the latch. When this happens, you pull the release- it opens the latch momentarily, but since the hood doesn't pop free, you can't go to the front of the car and open it. To check this, have someone else pull and hold the hood release lever in the car while you simultaneously go around front and pull upward on the hood. If this works, adjust your rubber bumpers up a bit to provide better spring force.
2. The cable may be broken. This is less likely, and if the hood release feels right when you pull it, I don't think this is your issue.

Good luck.

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.

You'll have to figure out a way to get some penetrating spray on it, like WD-40 or similar.

SOURCE: Cant open ford Taurus hood 2003 pull cord doesn't work.

Sometimes it appears nothing happens but after pulling the hood get out and try reaching under the hood for the latch. However if nothing at all happened you need someone to press down lightly on the hood as you pull the cord.

When I'm driving my 2002 Ford Taurus will sometimes hesitate, the thief light on the dash will flash and if my cruise control is on it will go off; what is causing this problem?

Any body damage? Could it be that the hood latch or the theft switch is misadjusted, such that the normal vibrations of going down the road trick the theft system into thinking the hood is being opened?

Hood latch broke

You might have to take out the grill to get at the latch, or cut back the plastic part of the cable and use a pair of vise grips to pull the wire to open the hood.

The battery is dead on my 2008 Ford Taurus X, the doors are locked and my keys won't unlock the door. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I've already tried the key less entry. That is...

I hate the way they have incorporated these new alarm systems so that you cant open the doors when the battery is dead, some cars will lock you inside unable to open door from inside. The electric door locks are what is keeping you from being able to unlock doors. Some people go to Auto Zone and rent the tool that can be slid into the door by way of the window opening, this doesn't always work. the best way to get in is to go under the car with a set of jumper cables and charge the battery from the large battery cable that is connected to the starter.. charge battery enough to access door locks P.s. it wont take much power to use key to unlock door after the battery has a small charge..

My 98 Taurus seems to be running out of gas then just dies. Have to have the battery jumped to get restarted. Its fine for awhile then does the same thing a few weeks later. Battery and alternator have...

The most likely cause is your fuel filter. You can check the fuel pressure and by opening up the fuel line under the hood and using a fuel pressure. Or you can just replace the fuel filter.

You will first need to depressurize your fuel line. Open your hood and look in the fuse box near your battery for the fuel pump relay. Remove that relay and turn on engine til it dies.

Now you can replace the fuel filter. Wear goggle. The fuel filter is located underneath the car near the back passenger wheel about 1 inch inside. It will be cylinrical looking with an arrow and connected to fuel lines at both ends. Unclip the clips from the fuel lines and unclamp the fuel filter from the body of the car. You can use a screwdriver to remove the clips. Don't damage the fuel lines in the process. Now wiggle or turn the fuel filter out and replace with new one with arrows in the same direction. Thanks for using Fixya.
