From my wiring diagram power for the radio is fuse # 29 a 25amp fuse! The fuse for cig lighter also powers the DLC Pin # 16 . The DLC is the connector under the dash left of the steering wheel . This is where you would hook up a scan tool ! Are you saying by part dash lights ,that some of the dash lights are out ? Could just be some burnt out bulbs ! Was fuse # blown ? Did you cig light work before ? Could have a shorted out cig. lighter or the outlet ! To fix dash bulbs the instrument cluster would need to be pulled ! How to Replace Dashboard Lights In Depth

Driving down the road the s10 2000, died. Found that the 40 amp fuse was blown replaceing it and just keeps blowing, I cant find the short.

thats the hard part, if the fuse slows then how to locate the short , they make a short finder but its over $200,00, replace the fuse with a test light then start doing a visual inspection , look for any frayed or koose wiring that may have chaffed

Brake lights dont work and shift lock wont allow me to take car out of drive without placing a key inside the shift lock release and still after that the brake lights still dont work

You will probably find a blown fuse to the rear brake-lights. You need to find and replace the fuse. Be aware that you may find that there is a short in the wiring to that circuit.
Check the components closely and hopefully you will find the source. If you have to go further then you may want to look into a short-finder or send it to someone with one. Good luck.

There are a couple of little things not working. The radio works but i can't tune in any channels and the rear defrost doesn't it a fuse?

check that the antenna cable is still plugged into the back of the radio and plugged into the bottom of the antenna at the finder to check radio end insert 4 large paper clips into the square holes in the front corners of the stereo this disengages the lock mechanisms slide the radio out and check the connections if electrical antenna check the fuse on the back of the radio that it isn't blown if so replace. loosen the inner fender panel and see if cable still connected to antenna #2 check the fuse for the rear defroster its probably blown if so replace and check for any grounded out hot wires also check the connections at each end of the rear window sometimes they become corroded or unglued from the window, if any of the fine lines that cross the window have been scratched or removed partially this will also render the defroster inoperable

The a/c for my car was working on the third setting. last week it stopped working completely. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and it blew as soon as I turned on the a/c. I need help with...

A/C/Heater blower motor may have an internal short or the blower motor resistor may be going bad. replace the motor and see if it fixes the problem, if it doesnt then a more in depth search may be in order by a repair shop.

2000 dodge ram 1500 turn brake and flasher lights won't work

The more in depth information you can provide the better. sounds like the lights dont work and the fuses arent blown. Check the fuse for power, remove the lamp from its socket, do a wiggle check, inspect the bulb closely for and damage(if its dark or black in color, replace it), if nothing, probe the terminals for power and ground. If one isnt present, we need to find out why. good luck.

Air conditioning/head lights

it is your ignition switch. Pontiac runs too much current through the switch for it to last very long. look on grandprix specific auto forums for an in depth look at this problem.
