Question about 1993 Ford Taurus
Still no solution to this on going problem this is my third belt and second compressor over it with ac working again just want the car drivable what would cause belt to come off when ac is never turned on and loud rattling noise please help water pump?
Lynn,We always use the AC even though we don't know it,unless it's unplugged from the electrical harness.Your AC runs when you use defrost, mix, and maybe other settings on the heater.
Now if it threw a belt, the tensioner or idler pulleys might be bad,OR the AC could have been overcharged and that will make it drag the belt and squeal.
Without seeing and hearing it, I can only keep guessing here. don-iohio (:^)

I assume that the noise changes with engine RPMs, not vehicle speed since you mention washing down the engine - something pretty hard to do if the car is going down the road-
Is it possible that what you describe as a squeak is instead a whistle? The symptoms you mention related to water could mean that an intake manifold gasket (or another part of the intake system) has a bad gasket and is causing a whistling noise from air being pulled in where it shouldn't happen. If the failed gasket is allowing water into the intake system, that would explain why the engine sounds like it wants to die.
You might take a 2-foot length of vacuum hose or similar, hold one end to your ear and move the other end around the engine to see if you can more accurately isolate the source of the noise, be it squeak or whistle. Obviously, don't hold the hose too tight in case you get tangled up with a belt or rotating part.

not very easy to change- you have to evac the a/c system- then all your work is underneath. they may sell a bypass pully to put in place of the compressor- but i dont beleive you can just put a shorter belt on. hope this helps and good luck

i would suspect the clutch is going, you can purchase all the parts needed seperatly from the pump so it will be a little cheaper.

First thing i would try...... ISOHEET, Red bottle..... allows water to be mixed into the fuel and be burnt out of the tank.
get a good qaulity fuel injection cleaner, if you can locate the brand MALCO, i found it quite succesful..... and go with a full tank of premium fuel such as ammoco or shell......do not use yellow bottle of heet
