Why my 2005 ba ford falcon wont start?

Its either no spark or no gas. Remove the fuel line and carefully crank it over..are you getting any fuel? If not possibly clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. If yes, are the spark plugs firing. Remove number one plug lead hold close to any metal surface on engine, crank over ..spark there..strong or weak spark? No spark check coil and associated parts.

Engine number

Do you mean the size of the engine? Or the stamped number on the block.

The engine size is on an identification plate usually at the rad support.
The number on the block is hidden, normally you can't see it unless you dismantle quite a bit of the surrounding parts.

If there is more information you need, you can take your VIN number off the dash and call a dealer with it. They can supply you with almost all the information about your vehicle from that number.

Where is the engine number

You engine size is part of your vin number. The number can be found on a tag on your valve cover, plus some where on the block. Look for a machined area with numbers stamped in it or factory cast numbers. I ask why do you need this? Do you think the engine was replaced or are you just trying to find size? 4 cylinder is 2.5, 6 cylinder is 4.0.

LOCATION ON ENGINE NUMBER OF KIA SPORTAGE 2005 MODEL

Find the engine identification tag. Attached at the factory, this tag is normally found on the engine block around the coil bolts. The top line of the tag identifies engine size and model year.

Search the block for the engine block casting number. The numbers are raised, not stamped into the block and consist of seven numeric digits. The digits can be located on either side of the block. The seven-digit number may be followed with a dash and further numbers. These are change codes and are not normally necessary to identify the engine.

EX.:

Locate the casting date is located on the block. It is in standard date coding, 2.25.93, for example and may be located on either side of the block, but is commonly located on the driver's side of the block, above the freeze plugs. The example 2.25.93 decodes as February 25, 1993. The casting date may be near the casting clock, which designates the hour the block was cast. Magnum engines were manufactured from 1993 to 2002, so verifying the date code helps identify the engine.

Fixya makes it very hard to ask a simple question! All i want is an answer to this simple question- how do you identify a car engine?

Here are some tips:
1. Locate the casting numbers on the block. This can be either behind the distributor on the engine, or near the starter. If you have to, use the wire brush and degreaser to clean the engine and see the number easier.
2. Note the first letter in the casting number. It's a letter to designate the year of manufacture of the part.

B - 1950s
C - 1960s
D - 1970s
E - 1980s
3. Note the second number in the casting number. This is for the last digit in the year. For example, a casting number starting with B8 was manufactured in 1958.
4. Note the third letter in the casting number. This is the model design of the vehicle.

A - Generic full-size ford
C - 1966 to 1975 Remanufactured part
D - Ford Falcon
E - Ford truck
F - Foreign market or Trans Am racing engine
G - '61 to '67 Comet or '68 to '76 Montego
H - '66 to '82 heavy truck or Holman Moody high performance parts
J - Industrial Ford model
L - Lincoln
M - Mercury
O - '67 to '76 Ford Torino and all Ford Fairlane
S - Ford Thunderbird
T - Truck
U - Econoline van
V - Lincoln
W - Mercury Cougar
Y - '62 to '72 Meteor (Canada model) and '75 to '81 Bobcat
Z - Mustang
6 - Pantera
5. Note the fourth letter in the casting number. If you're looking at a complete engine, it should be an "E."
6. Note the next four digits in the casting number, generally after a hyphen or space. This is the generic part number for the engine. This number should be between 6000 and 6898 for an engine base assembly.
7. Note the last letter in the number. This is the engineering version of the part, or the design change.

Good luck.
