Mk3 mondeo engine loud ticking like grinding all the time.just had problem with injectors.had all 4 replaced.the garage says piston slap

Is this a new noise your hearing? If your mechanic has correctly diagnosed the noise find more info here:

The distinctive noise of a diesel engine is variably called diesel clatter, diesel nailing, or diesel knock. Diesel clatter is caused largely by the diesel combustion process; the sudden ignition of the diesel fuel when injected into the combustion chamber causes a pressure wave. Engine designers can reduce diesel clatter through: indirect injection; pilot or pre-injection; injection timing; injection rate; compression ratio; turbo boost; and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).

F22a engine produces strange noise most obvious at 2000 rpm, what could the problem be?

Without a general description of what the noice sounds like, squeal as compared to knocking, it is impossible to help you. Engines make a lot of different noises, so try and help by describing noise. I would suspect it is belt related, or tension pulley related as these are RPM variable noises, belts tend to slip when you accelerate and can be quite loud with a serpentine belt as example.

Cam chain change

If you do regular maintenance on the engine and do regular oil changes there will be no regulatory period for the chain to be replaced unless it becomes noisy and is affecting the performance of the engine.

How often to replace a timing chain on 5.2 V8 engine,95 Jeep Grand Cherokee

It should not be necessary to replace a timing chain unless it becomes noisy. As standard practice, timing chains are changed at engine overhaul, at which time adjusters and guides are normally changed too.

The fuel pump on my 1988 crown victoria runs constantly when the engine is running and pump is very noisy. When i turn the key on, the pump runs then stopps but runs constantly when engine is running. Why?

The fuel pump is supposed to run constantly when the engine is running. It is pumping fuel to the engine which is in constant need of fuel. It is starting when the ignition is turned on and then shuts down after a few seconds if you do not start the engine. This is exactly what it is supposed to do. You have no problem except for the pump being noisy. On a car that is 22 years old, I would suspect the fuel pump is failing and the noise you hear is it's death nil. Change the fuel filter and if the noise continues be prepared to have the pump replaced. It may fail suddenly or it may become hard to start. If you have never had it replaced just go ahead and do so, to prevent being stranded and a towing fee when it does fail.

My engine got so noisy and when i removed the engine cover the timing chain looked a bit loose

The timing belt shouldn't cause the engine to be noisy unless it is so loose as to slap parts surrounding it. The engine will become noisy if a loose timing belt skips a tooth or 2 and messes up the timing of the engine.

On another hand, if it is visually loose at the timing gears it is imperative to get the system looked at by a mechanic. The belt may be ok but the tensioner may need to be replaced but if you replace the tensioner, you may as well replace the belt. Timing belt should have some play at the point between the crank pulley and the cam gears.

Take it to a certified mechanic to have it looked at and measure the play on the timing belt to check if it is still in specifications.

Timing belts are only good for about 60,000 miles. If you are over that I would recommend replacing the belt and tensioner but may vary from car to car. Check a repair manual for specifics to your vehicle.

My 1986 jaguar xj6 vanden plaz have tappet noise.how do i corect it?

How loud is it, did it suddenly get loud? they should have a light noise if gapped correct, easy to check, the covers come off with about 11 7/16 nuts, slide a feeler gauge blade a  few thou less than the specs under the cam when the lobe is pointing up, a few thou bug is fine but if it gets to 6 or more it will be noisy, look for a wearing cam if one gap is big, also check the chains for slop.If you are in the UK the library can get Haynes manuals in, keep it clean for them!
