Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a mitsubishi endeavor 2004 , i changed the serpentine belt and thepower stering belt 6 weeks ago and today in the after noon i heard a sound like somthing is hitting a plastic cover in the area where the serpentine belt or the cover of the timing belt. So i drove back home then the steering wheel got harder on turning left or right especially on idle or slow driving in addition to a squeeqy sound and a strong resistance when i turn the sterring wheel . Can someone tell me is it related to changing the belts a friend told me that they did not adjust the tensioner well and it might streched the belt or just bad luck as usual . Thank you .

The power steering belt has failed
possible incorrect installation/ adjustment
unlikely for new belts to fail other than for the installation was not correct

SOURCE: Squeaking serpentine belt

go to autozone.com and search their free online repair manuals for your car. It will show you how to tighten the serpentine belt. It is more than likely just the tensioner wasn't pulled tight enough when the new belt was put on. I hope this is helpful. Also could be a bad tensioner. Good luck.

The timing belt should not have been affwcted. Sounds like you have everything chk'd and accounted for.. The best way to chk the cam and crank is a compression test.

Sounds like you may need to replace your power steering pump.
Be sure to check all of your fluids, and check your serpentine belt for cracks, or worse, breakage.

Does the 2004 mitsubishi endeavor have an MP3

The 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor does not support MP3 playback or Ipod adapter. You would have to install an aftermarket stereo in the CD slot below the HVAC (A/C) controls.

Yes, I would replace it according to the owner's manual. Could be very expensive if it breaks.
