SOURCE: won't come out of park....brake pedal depressed,

Try turning the key to the very 1st. notch (NOT ON) you should be able to pull it out of park in that position, without having your foot on the brake. Once you have it out of park the start the vehicle in "N". If that works get it to shop and get it fixed. You might not want to put it back in Park again if you get it out, so bring an extra so you can lock it up because you're not going to be able to remove the key from the ignition. Good luck!!

Can not back up or even push it backwards in neutral running or not.

The right rear brake on my Granddaughters car was so worn that the pad jammed when turning backwards stopping any backwards motion. When going forward it did not jam and could be pushed or driven forward. Tell everyone that if you hear scraping noises when applying brakes to get them checked right away.

WHAT IF YOUR CAR STARTS ROLLING IN GEAR

Please be more specific. Most cars with automatic transmissions will roll forward in Drive or backwards in Reverse. If the car is on a slope, it can roll due to gravity, even backwards in a forward gear. If you mean the car is rolling when it's in Park, either the transmission is faulty or it's not fully engaging in Park. A third possibility is that you mean that, after stopping with the brakes, the car begins to roll with your foot still on the brake. That would be a brake problem. If you've had the car for a while and this is a noticeable change, take it to a mechanic and have it checked. Explain your concerns clearly.

My truck will not go forward buit will go backward

Check if your parking brake is on. You can usually back up with a parking brake on, but not go forward. If it was partially engaged, it might have warmed up from friction as you drove, until it started to grab. If that isn't it, you probably have a major transmission problem.

The automatic (vacuum) release-type is standard equipment on all vehicles. The automatic vacuum-type parking brake system contains the following features:
  • A parking brake release control motor (2A843) with mounting bracket bolted to the parking brake control .
  • The vacuum-actuated diaphragm within the parking brake release control motor which is connected by a rod to the upper end of the parking brake release vacuum hose (2B653) .
  • The parking brake release vacuum hose which connects the parking brake release control motor to the engine manifold through a vacuum release switch at the steering column tube (3514) .
  • The parking brake release control motor which is actuated to release the parking brake whenever the engine is running and the transmission is in a forward-driving gear.
  • The automatic parking brake control which has a manual release feature that releases the foot parking brake control by applying force to the parking brake control pedal in the "apply" direction to the point of initial application.
  • The parking brake control will return to the full-release position after removing the force.
