Bulb in four wheel drive dash switch burned out

if it burned out, but the 4wd works, the only way to fix it is to remove the dash. you might have to replace the switch, or just the bulb. a cheap fix, but one that is not fun to fix.

How do I replace the headlights in my 1985 Lincoln town car.

To replace the headlights, you must first remove the trim ring around the headlight. There should be three or four screws holding it in place. Once the trim ring is removed, there will be four screws, two at the top and two on the bottom. Carefully remove screws and remove the retaining ring. Gently pull bulb out, unplug the wire connector. With new bulb in hand, carefully connect the wiring to back of bulb and carefully set in place. While holding the bulb in place, set retaining ring back in place over bulb and insert screws. Then replace the trim ring, tighten the screws and you are done.

Driver-side headlight bulb burns out every four months or so. Passenger side is fine - same bulb for a few years now.

Hi:
four months is way too soon, so you need to look things over a little closer. The entire headlight assembly could be slightly loose, and vibrating on bumps and causing the bulb to die. Next time you put a new bulb in, buy and use some dielectric grease on the contacts of the new bulb, to keep moisture out, and examine the harness plug for signs of dust, dirt or corrosion. since it takes four months to fail, it has to be a minor thing.

Need to replacedash light bulb

this is easier than you may think it is, simply unscrew your rear defroster, and power mirror controls from the left and right of the bezel around the guadge cluster, pull out your heat/A-C pannel, and pull out your headlight/4WD pannel. there are four nuts on somewhat long bolts at the four corners of the bezel remove these and remove bezel, once this is done there should be four more behind where those were they are very thin looking and unlike normal nuts remove these also and the guadge cluster should slide right out, to replace to stock bulb type simply twist bulbs out and ask for replacements at your local auto part store, if you want to convert your backlight to LED (which gives it a mutch cleaner look at night) go to your nearest radioshack, AutoZone, Kragen, or any auto parts store and buy the desired amount needed. Good Luck
