What is the chemical reaction that take place in the lead acid battery?

the sulphuric acid reacts with the lead in the plates with the result that the acid breaks down and tends to go water and the lead becomes lead sulphate
when a battery is dead flat, the plates are all lead sulphate and the density of the acid is approaching that of water
that can be tested with a hydrometer
When a charge is applied to the battery terminals , the process is reversed and the lead sulphate returns as lead and the water ( low ph acid) returns to sulphuric acid

I cant get my 2007 hhr inspected. I've been told the analizer will not communicate with my car. What can I check/

In most cases it's just a fuse for the connector that they plug in to. The fuse for you that you should check is in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment. Below is a picture of the fuse layout in that fuse panel. It's not the best and I have tried to mark the fuse you want to check. If you can't see the picture real well, look on the cover of that fuse panel and the fuse you need to check will be the fuse in the number 29 position and/or the one labeled (on the cover) "FRT AUX PWR OUTLET". It will be a 20 amp fuse. Hope this solves your problem....

1995 crown vic smells hot and like sulphur, it also

The heading cut off your symptoms, it appears. Catalytic converters that are failing can get hot and smell like rotten eggs. Sometimes they break apart inside and cause blockage. Depending on the severity of the condition, it may cause the engine to run poorly or even stall if bad enough.
This is only a possibility, it would have to be checked. The smell of sulphur and considering the age of the vehicle may indicate the converter should be checked.

Engine light flashing, strong sulphur smell, can feel engine missing as it runs. Assume bad plugs or wires?

If your engine light is flashing and sulphur smell engine power loss your probably looking at a catalytic converter. However you will need to have a engine scan completed to see what else is wrong as well.

When the engine is cold, it will stall out as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator pedal. The problems stops once the engine is warmed up.

Try taking it to someome who can plug into your computer and analize the problem. If theres a auto parts store near you they might have the analizer, and usually free . if not take it to a chysler dealer , but they usually charge around $50. also check your egr valve, vacuum lines, spark plugs and wires. good luck. mike

89 *** spec galant blowing black smoke under excelaration i was told it was my computer so i replaced my computer with a haltec e8 and it has done nothing but cost me money all the work was done by a...

what I would do is find a mechanic with a gas analizer and find out what the levels of HC , CO & NOx levels are . by checking the levels of hc if real high then they know that there is alot of unburned fuel and then the CO would be low and this will cause black smoke . But there could be a chance that this is carbon build up coming out when under accel, the only way to have it checked properly so you dont waste anymore money is have some one with a gas analizer check it out and learning what the reasons are will take them right to the problem with the fuel system or ignition system o2's ect.

Motor is not running hot but stall's after 20min

Sounds more like the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). When the Catalytic Converter goes, usually will get other symptoms like lack of power, bad sulphur smell, & a lot of heat coming from under the truck and depending on where it's located, hot floorboards. If you go to a place like Autozone and get a free diagnostic test, the codes would give you a better idea where the problem lies. Best of luck.

Burning smell

The sulphur smell is the result of the emmisions control system. I have an 06 Expedition with the exact same engine and emmisions system as yours. When the engine is cold, you don't smell that sulphur smell, but as soon as the engine gets to operating temperature, the exhaust gasses smell sulphury. Nothing wrong with your ride - they all do that. The dealership sometimes spray the underbody with some type of rubber to protect the vehicle against rust. This rubber stuff sometimes get sprayd on the exhaust as well and then you will smell "burning tires" after driving the vehicle. This will go away after a few thousend miles though.
