SOURCE: VOLVO S60 2004 D5 3RD GEAR GEARBOX CRUNCH

Sounds as if a synchronizer is going out in 3rd gear, or 3rd gear maybe stripped. I would get it checked by a tranny (transmission) shop before it ended up costing you more money. There is a possibility that there may be some shavings on that gear as well, which would just need cleaned.

SOURCE: Nissan Altima 2000 - Engine oil leaking problem.

replace the front oil seal. first i would clean the engine with purple power (degrease etc.) then look at the engine and make sure the leak is not coming from above like possibly the valve cover gasket or from the oil sending unit. try to tighten the bolts on the valve cover and even the oil pan. you never know, you may get lucky. i don't know where you are but front seals are cheap but the labor on the job is what costs you.

SOURCE: Volvo S60 Hesitation

Had a similar problem recently where I would press the accelerator almost to the floor before I got a response and when I ran the A/C it was worse. Also my car kept stalling out when at idle. Volvo dealerships are extremely expensive. I took mine to a Bosch service center (more of a mom & pop shop) and the price was more reasonable. The drivability (sp?) problem was the rear oxygen sensor for me. I also had a fuel pressure sensor and MAP (labeled as pressure sensor from Volvo) sensor replaced. The parts are expensive, but it fixed my issue. There is a front and rear oxygen sensor so it could be either. The parts are $219 each. The fuel pressure and MAP sensor are cheaper, but only by about $40. They are not hard to replace though. Once I had the rear oxygen sensor replaced the car was back to normal. I have a 2003 S60 with 97K miles.

SOURCE: oil in radiator, car did not overheat

The oil cooler tank on the side of the radiator has cracked and allowed oil into the cooling system. Replace the radiator and you will need to flush the cooling system A LOT. and be careful driving it for a while, the mixture can take a long time to clear out of the head which can cause it to overheat.

My 2004 Volvo S60-- my emergency parking brake locked the rear wheels. and I was stuck in a parking lot. I had to have the car towed. When the mechanic did an inspection he reported emergency parking...

I've seen this happen. the parking brake does NOT use rubber lines. it uses steel cables and is adjusted at the handle under the parking brake lever cover. if the small metal clip that attaches the expander to the cable brakes, get ready to open your wallet. what happens is the expander works its way out and the shoes catch on the inside of the rotor. then it becomes very hot as you're driving down the road, and it causes the anchor(part of the rear knuckle) to break off and destroys everything inside the rotor, often including the rotor. then the knuckle, that cable, hub bearing assembly, and rotor will need to be replaced.. which will cost you close to $1500 parts and labor..
