Key Duplicated won't open door works with ignition only

When I purchased this car it came with one key. I had it duplicated in case the key was lost. The key was lost last night and the keys I had duplicated will not open the doors and work with the ignition only. Is there a way to have a key made that will unlock doors as well?

Your duplicate key may be a valet key which would not let a parking lot attendant into the trunk or the doors. If you don't have the original master key, you may have to get a locksmith involved. I doubt the dealer would have key codes for a model that old.

SOURCE: Can not open any door using the key or remote control.

Hmm, probably a dead battery. The problem with those locks is that they are electrically actuated, not mechanically unlocked. Thats why the key turns easily. If you turn and hold it to the unlock position, and the battery is okay, the windows will roll down. If they dont, then its the batt. Call a mechanic.

SOURCE: My Car wont let me start it

Well, my mom found a little button underneath the dash board on the drivers side. And I guess its kind of like the reset button. So she pushed it and started the car and it was fine!

The blinking light key you seen on the dash board is the anti
theft device installed by the manufacturer, and this means, the key issued with the car when purchased is smart key which has a chips inside that communicate with the on board computer of the car, if you have the original key duplicated by regular key duplicator this key will
not work, because its not chips capable, the only place to duplicated this kind of key is to the dealer, and you are looking at around $150.00 per copy.

I have a Honda CRV 1999 Model, but it has only one Ignition key. I intend to duplicate this key, is it ok to go ahead or do I have to do any form of re-programming before the duplicated key can be used...

In all likelihood, there is an ignition chip in your key and it will have to be programmed, especially if you have a laser cut key. Plus, there is nothing wrong with having a backup key. In fact, it's a great idea.

My key will not unlock my doors on my 2004 Hyundai accent. How can I fix this

if they are recent copies of keys you had duplicated, they may just be bad copies. if the key worked and now doesn't the locks may be just wearing enough so the keys do not work now . try wd40 into each lock, work the key in and out several times, lube it again, try the lock now. if you just got the car and it works the ign and not the dr locks, the ignition was changed to a new key and they dont fit the doors, what about the trunk, is it ok there. If nothing works, you need a locksmith to look at it to determine if the ign was replaced or he needs just to cut a new key to code to get it to work properly

It does not read the key so the car does not crank it does not even try to crank

either the contacts just inside the ignition that read the VATS chip are bad or to worn to read the key, requiring the replacement of the ignition or the resistor in the key itself is bad or to worn to work, if you have another key try that. if that doesn't work as a last effort before ign replacement have the key duplicated onto new key with the proper value VATS number, if that doesn't. work rep ign. if a light on the dash comes on when you turn the key, the computer is not recognizing the key

Duplicated key wont start engine

Their is a computer chip imbedded into the original key. Take it to a real locksmith and most are able to make another coded key.
