If the car is running then the crahkshaft HAS to be spinning. That's the big one that turns every other pulley on the engine. Perhaps you're looking at a different pulley??

SOURCE: check automatic transmission fluid 2001 pontiac sunfire

You need to raise the vehicle and start it. Remove the plug near where the passenger side driveshaft comes out. The head of the plug is 7/16. Trans fluid will stream out of the hole when the engine is running when the transmission is full, If fluid doesn't run out, fill the trans until fluid runs out. The fill cap is red and it is on top under and around the air cleaner box. If you need more help let me know.

Crank shaft pulley not aligned

You may have a bad bearing or bushing in one of the idler pulleys, the belt tensioner, or the alternator. Normally the crankshaft pulley aligns unless somebody changed timing gears or the pulley itself and it's not all the way in.

Where is the crankshaft sensor location on lanos 2001 ? I changed my camshaft position sensor and the timing belt, but the engine light still on with the same code and the mechanic said it's the...

both the single cam and twin cam engines use the teeth on the crank pulley for crankshaft sensor which is bolted in bracket attached to block near oil pressure switch, hopefully you didnt dent(bent) teeth on crank pulley from dropping it or putting pulley down a bit roughly because they bend really eazy.
also is the crank pulley bolted up in correct position?
is the timming belt tension correct from when you did cam belt?
if tension wrong or timming out by a tooth it will set crank sensor codes, even possibly cam sensor codes and if you get timming out more than 3 teeth either way(advanced or ********) you will bend valves.

Have a 97 2.4L Pontiac Sunfire with under 100,000 miles, has bad crankshaft bearings, what's the easiest way to fix it,or the cheapest.

the cheap *** way to fix that would be replacing the bearings and only them and related gaskets but most of the time your crank will need machine shop work.

Need timing marks 2.4 sunfire after installing water pump

YOU WILL SEE A HOLE IN THE CAM GEAR THAT A 3/8 BOLT WILL FIT INTO. PUT A BOLT INTO THE HOLES OF BOTH CAM GEARS. THEN LINE UP THE CRANK PULLEY KEYWAY AT ABOUT 12 O'CLOCK WITH THE MARK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK.

MAKE SURE TO COMPRESS THE CHAIN TENSIONER AND RELEASE IT WHEN THE CHAIN IS IN POSITION.

WON'T START

it may be that the tensioner has finally seized up...to check this take the serpintine belt off and see if the tension pulley is seized up..if it is your engine is trying to crank but the friction from the pulley is preventing it form turning over fast enough to fire up

2001 Ford Taurus, Harmonic balancer removal

I had this problem and had to block the teeth of the harmonic balancer with a 2-ton hydraulic jack handle (use an assistant to hold) while I torqued on the bolt with a 4-way lug wrench and a length of pipe. Took a minute, but finally we heard the "ping" of the seal breaking and were able to remove that BAB.
