I have a 1998 mitsubishi challenger which has been running mint when all of a sudden I go and start it up an it cuts off...a few more trys later an I'll drive 50 metres down the road and it cuts off

This engine is controlled by a computer (known as the "PCM"), so you most likely have a fault code stored in the computer that will give you a clue as to what is causing this. You need to have the fault codes read with a OBD2 scan tool or code reader. If no codes are present then I suggest you check the fuel pressure when this occurs as well

Our vz 2006 engine sounds like a chaff cutter we only bought it 4 weeks prior and have had a coil changed 2 weeks after that it made a chaff cutter type noise and went away then started again today

If it is the V6 engine...............

If the vehicle has done 120000 kms or more and the timing chain on the V6 engine has never been changed then it is possible the engine noise is due to a failing timing chain if it is still the original. The original TC is a well known part failure on that engine. You may also have a check engine light displaying on your dash.

You need to take the car into a competent mechanic that is familiar
with that engine or take it to Holden service to diagnose. Since I cannot hear the engine it is difficult to comment further. If it is the timing chain, which I have raised because it is a very common failure on the V6 in VZ Commodores once the car has run over about 120000 kms from new, you will not want to delay in having it diagnosed as the cause of the engine noise.

If it is not the timing chain, (and I hope it is not because it is an expensive repair you will have to do), have the car scanned to see what fault codes the computer is generating because if the car is running as you described there will be fault codes. Once these have been retrieved by the scan tool a proper diagnosis can be done. It is a bad idea to just start changing various engine parts hoping to stumble on the cause of the problem.

Pulsated break peddle happen then abs light came on then awd light came one and now losses power going up hill or pushing the gas to fast from a stop losses power ,like it cuts out

pulsating brake pedal indicates that the ABS is active under brakes whether it is required or not
from the rest I would first have a fault scan done to find any faulty sensors
Try replacing the ECM with a known good unit as the scan fault readings may reveal a problem ECM

License plate bolts spinning

Seems like a lot of trouble to remove the mounting panel. If you can get to the back of the panel you should be able to get a pair of grippers onto the nut. If the bolt spins there must be some gap between the back of the bolt head and the licence plate. Use the tips of a pair of side cutters ("hollow" side out) to immobilise the bolt then use a dremel with a cut off disc to cut off the head which lies between the jaws of the cutters. Of course if you have a really strong grip you might be able to cut off the head with the side cutters.

Transit van cutting out

Okay, no codes and cut out and low idle,

I have seen this on many types of cars and trucks, first have the tech clean the throttle body, make sure he uses a good cleaner and tooth brush, open the plate with his fingers and brush carbon build up off throttle body and plate then rinse clean with throttle body cleaner, next check and clean mass air flow sensor ,

What happens is the throttle plate when closed allows a small amount of air to pass, after time carbon build up closes the gap little more causing lower idle at stops or when gas pedal released in turn causes engine stall at times, the mass air flow sensor also can cause a problem when diodes that read air flow get dirty and allows air to enter without computer knowing and causes lean condition,

How do you change a positve battery cable on a 1998 dodge avenger car?

First a little more clarification would be helpful in, Why do you think the cable needs replaced? If the cable is corroded at terminal connection a new connection fitting is much more simpler than cable replacement. Nonetheless, remove the negative battery cable first, then the positive. (1)Clean the corroded area's with baking soda and water mixture (you should wear eye and hand protection- battery acid will eat through clothing in a matter of minutes).Scrub gently with nylon brush -using a wire brush can cause sparks and may cause a fire from hydrogen gas escaping form battery. Flush with clean water and your ready to start the next process. (2)Assuming you will adding a new terminal connection fitting - cut off bad fitting with wire cutters or hack saw, skin back wire about ONE inch and install new cable fitting.(3) install / reconnect battery. (4) Your cars computer will be cleared of all learned shifting patterns and other feedback information. It will revert back to factory preprogrammed settings. Average cost of replacement cable clamp $3.50. New cable cost to starter +$30.00

Happy motoring.

Mazda etude 160ie a/c cuts out after approx 45 min driving.

Could be an electrical part that only fails after getting really hot. Coils and ignition modules are known for this. Unfortunately, these parts cannot be tested for this heat-soak type problems, other than to see if spark quality at the plugs has degraded when failing. One other thought. A bad gas cap which is not allowing air to flow in as gas is used can cause this and that is a cheap part to replace just for grins.
