You need air tools, many differnet size sockets and a press. The strut/spindle and lower control arm have to come out all together. leaving the axle in the car.The spinlde cannot be removed from the strut. once removed, you can then unbolt the lower control arm ball joint nut, and seperate the lower control from the spindle - for ease for the press. press the hub out, remove the snap rings on either side and press the old bearing out. press in new bearing , install snap rings, press the hub in and reinstall. I just did one today... I have 15 years experience as a ford tech - Ugh bro.. - Josh

The ball joint bolt must be removed...then a long bar preferably a spud bar can be place across the lower A arm and presure can be applied. If it is stubborn, have someone to hit the side area of the ball joint without missing and hitting the threads on the ball joint. If you are afraid of damaging the threads, you can hand screw the nut back on the ball joint just enought to protect it. Then with the presure on the spud bar...hit it a couple of times...it will turn loose. You can take the nut off of the CV shaft at this point...maybe a 28mm socket, not sure. You will need to take the brakes off to gain access to the bearing and spindle. You have a few bolts to remove there. At this time you can decide whether you want to replace the whole spindle or have a machine shop press a new one in. Use a Timken bearing...I don't like to advertize for a company, and I don't like doing a job over because a part that failed. Take this advice and you will be glad you did. Just repeat the process to get the axle back in. You should be able to place the axle out of your way without taking it out of the trany...if you do expect to have trany fluid running out so have a bucket ready. If you have to take the axle out...it prys loose from the trany with a pry bar...good luck.

a 5 pound steel hammer is needed to whack this off. first I would retract the brake shoes first to give the drum more room inside so it will remove easier

These are pressed in. You have to press the hub out first(center part), then there is a C clip that has to be removed to press the bearing out. If you don't have a 20 ton press take it to a shop. Costs about$30.00
